doodle's hair.  Stuart is now 17 months old and other than a puppy cut on his face and a sanitary - his hair has never been cut.  It is 6 to 8 inches depending on the location, his tummy being 6 and his back and head being 8 inches.  He is so darn cute and people just love his look but he is a shedder, his hair is every place.  Also being in FL and loving to swim - would he feel better if it were shorter.  I'm considering trying it shorter.  Have you cut your doodle's hair, how long was it and how short did you go?

Verns coat looks closer to Stuart's so I'm going to go back and look at Vern with it shorter to get some idea of what it might look like!

This is one of Luca's longer phases when he was just a pup

And Calla was pretty long haired here:

Calla was cut quite short about a month ago but it grows back fast. Both of my dogs get a moderate trim every few months. They don't shed and even brushing is easier if they are trimmed and we have fewer of the dreaded mats.

Calla is a cutie, makes me want to smooch her nose!

That's a beautiful picture of Calla!

Thanks.

Cooper is three years old, and I have never cut anything except for keeping his eyes uncovered, and a sanitary trim.  His hair is also at least six to eight inches or longer.  I just recently thinned his Beard for the first time to keep him from dripping water all over the house. I think Stuart looks great with his long hair, and would not cut it.

Experience tell me that you WILL eventually cut his hair.

This is Chip back in '07. I can't believe his coat looked like this!

And Kramer back a few years. They've both had many haircuts since. It's no big deal, as it does grow back. Click on the pics for better images.

BEAUTIFUL!

He looks fabulous and he has such a great quality to his coat. I just love his look and I can see how people would just have to stop and admire him. I love mine long too, especially Bella, but like Stuart, she sheds and although you haven't mentioned matting, Bella Matt's when she gets past 3-4 inches. So for hers and my sanity, not to mention the relief of my poor hard working Dyson, I cut her to about 3/4 inches once or twice a yr. then grow her back out until I can't handle it anymore.
When her coat becomes more work than enjoyment, it's time to cut. I get to enjoy so much more carefree time with her during that time. But still get to see her longer in a few months. And even though I always hate cutting those long locks, once she's done I always think she looks so neat and trim and like she actually feels better.

Stuart is sooo handsome. Little Auggie will hopefully look very similar to Stuart, I can see some of Auggie's features in Stuart's face.

I love the shaggy look of the doods as well, but it's just way too much work. Monty is curlier than your Stuart and he also mats. I usually go 2.5 - 3 months between haircuts.

Here is Monty at his longest:

And here he is after his regular haircut.

OMD ~ I love that Monty sitting pose on the stairs.  He is so cute.  Also, I love the length of his haircut.  I am going to print this and see if the groomer can duplicate it for CB. Thanks

That top photo is a favorite :)   but the bottom photo - wow if Stuart would have the chenille (sp?) look - I would have his cut tomorrow, but that is what I'm afraid of - he has longer, wavey hair.  He might just look non-doodle like.
