Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi Everyone-

I am in desperate need of a good Portland groomer!  Preferably on the West Side, but at this point I would drive anywhere for a good doodle do!  Thanks!

We can highly recommend Eve at Oswego Veterinary - 503-636-3001. She has been doing a terrific job for our two Golden Doodles, Abby and Joey, for over two years now.  She listens to and does exactly what we want.  She loves dogs and they absolutely love her.

FWIW we get them groomed about every six weeks...short(ish) all over except their heads and tails...we like the slightly "wild" look.  ;)  They look awesome every time.

Hope that helps!

Thank you so much for the referral!

We live in the Bethany area on the west side and I have a wonderful groomer. Kim at Kim's Cute Cuts in Hillsboro. I'm also more than willing to drive the extra distance for a great groom, and Kim is well worth the drive. Its easy to make an appointment, she's fast (usually 2-1/2-3hrs total), and she's reasonably priced ($65). We'd gone through about a dozen groomers before I stumbled onto Kim. We've never been happier. If you decide on making an appointment, ask specifically for Kim to do the groom (her daughters work with her also, but they don't do the same quality of work, IMHO). Her number is 503 693 9890. Let me know how it goes if you go to her.

I should also mention Kim loves dogs as well, and as long as I tell Lucy (my doodle) ahead of time that we're going to see Kim, she's as happy as a clam to see her. BTW, we've been taking Lucy to Kim for about 1-1/2 years now and Kim always listens to what I might want tweaked on Lucy each groom (shorter on the body, longer on the legs, shorter muzzle, etc.). Good luck!

One more thing... Lucy is a woolly coated labradoodle with very fine textured hair that mats easily. She gets professionally groomed every 6 weeks and we keep her body at about 1/4-1/2" long. If I wait longer, there's invariably lots of mats to contend with which usually means some areas are shaved (this usually is the case in Lucy's 'under arm' areas, even with 6-week grooms). The shaved areas are never noticeable though.

Here's a link to a picture of Lucy the day of one of her grooms with Kim. The shaved area on her leg was due to needing an IV a week prior (we call it the 'sock incident'. Long story!)

For comparison, here's a link to the very WORST groom Lucy received (NOT from Kim):

I use Rose at Petsmart in Tualatin. She groom other Doodles that I know, I have tried many groomers and she is by far the best.

How about a recommendation for a great Doodle groomer in the Vancouver area?  I like a fleecier look and DO NOT want the doodle to look like a poodle!!! Thanks for all recommendations!

We use Designer Dog up in the Salmon Creek area - but I know that they have a long waiting list for new clients.  I've also heard very good things about The Dog Shop up 164th next to Natural Pet NW as far as doodle grooming.  Have you found anyone?
