The response to the 1st Doodle Cruise has been wonderful. As we look to planning the next one - which needs to start now - Adina & Clark have asked that I gather some information from past cruisers and those that have interest in the next cruise. Please answer the questions and post below.

#1. I would prefer to cruise in

1a.  Oct. 2013

or

1b.  Jan/Feb. 2014

or

1c.  Just tell me when and I'll be there

*weather could be a factor in either choice, Oct. is still hurrican season but on the tail end, Jan/Feb might cause travel problems for those in the north. Oct. is considered more "off season" so would be slightly cheaper

#2. I would be willing to sail on

2a. Carnival

or

2b. Celebrity

or

2c. Just tell me what ship and I'm on it

**Carnival is a little less expensive, is the party cruise line, more casual, more smoking (we can minimize the effects by booking cabins together)

***Celebrity is a little more money but smoking is WAY less, no Casino or Balcony smoking but it is a bit more upscale - you'd be expected to follow the guidelines for dinner attire (resort chic - slacks and nice shirt for dinner, capris, skirt or dress for women - formal night - suit for men and cocktail dress for ladies)

*************************************************************************************************************

#3.  I would prefer to sail out of  (these are possible itineraries and cannot be guaranteed)

3a.  Ft Lauderdale - for a Caribbean destination ( Key West, Grand Cayman & Ochio Rios, Jamaica)

or

3b. I would prefer to sail out of Los Angles for a Mexican Riviera destination (Cabo San Lucas & Puerto Vallarta, Mexico)

or

3c. I would prefer to sail out of Miami for a Caribbean destination (Grand Turk, Ochio Rios-Jamaica, Nassua-Bahamas)

*********************************************************************************************

#4.  I would consider a

4a.  5 night cruise

or

4b.  6 night cruise

or

4c.  either

************************************************************************************************

Thank you for your input

Got married there 5 years ago  :)  Maybe Jimmy Buffet would let us stay at his house.  Actually, I think he lives in Long Island, NY now.  Go fig

Remember our virtual trip to Key West last winter?

http://www.doodlekisses.com/forum/topics/i-think-i-got-cabin-fever?...

We went to Key West once - it was so much fun.  Perhaps we could just go to Key West and meet.

I would do that in a second Nancy.  I LOVE Key West.  Have been there too many times to count and never tire of it.

Here are my thoughts and also my DHs, as we discussed this at dinner.

We still want to rent a beach house-large, and take the dogs and owners all together in a group.  No dog, no go  :)

If we had 20 members, paying $1,000=$20,000.  Certainly, someone would rent us a house for that much and allow our dogs  :)

There are plenty of places that are pet friendly......I think the issue would be 20 to 40 dogs....that is a lot different than 20 people. There are some fantastic rentals on www.vrbo.com and www.homeaway.com

They were talking about regional get togethers in addition to the cruise.  Fudge is not a romper, so I could never go, but it does sound fun.

Same with me.  Murph (and everyone else around him) would have a meltdown.

jack would freak with that many dogs

We need to work on Fudge and Murphy so we could do it.  Surely it can be done.

Certainly it could be done like any other training. But it's understandable if they are not around a lot of other dogs routinely, how no amount of training will help them. My two are with other dogs several days a week. Between the pet sitters dogs, our kids dogs and the dog park, my two have other dogs constantly around them and they are trained to behave when situations come up. But if that type of experience isn't possible, it would not be fair to throw them into a strange environment with strange people (DKers) and strange dogs for a week.

Well we've been working on it with Murph for two years now.....twice a week with a private trainer, behaviorist consultation, sending him to Daycare once a week for socialization, daily training sessions, and there is still no way I could trust him in this situation without a muzzle.  So if it can be done, I sure don't know how.
