A beautiful day on the central coast of California and we took advantage of the 84 degree weather with a trip to the beach. The waves were HUGE and I was wondering if there was an earthquake somewhere and these were tsunami waves. No, just a very high tide. We walked the dogs back along the street because there wasn't much of a beach left. The restaurant where we were eating has about twelve tables out back toward the beach and the dogs could sit by us while we had our lunch. The whales were blowing and surfacing right in front of us and there were dolphins diving in the water and California pelicans flying overhead. What a day. The sounds were amazing. Waves crashing, seals barking, the foghorn blaring, and birds squaking from the roof tops. Ahh, fall in California.

It sounds very lovely.
I can totally picture this. We are moving to San Diego as soon as I win the lottery...
Sounds good to me Lynda! Where were you on the coast? We live in Fresno, so going to the coast to get away from the heat is a real treat for us! We love Monterey, Pismo, Cambria, etc, etc. Actually anywhere on the coast and I am a happy camper! Well not exactly a camper, but I love the coast. Sounds like you and the dogs had a terrific day.
We are in Monterey County. We enjoy the October heat -it's our summer.
This sounds lovely. I cannot imagine whales surfacing right in front of me while I ate my lunch. Whale watching is on my bucket list.
2015 - Doodle Hawaii Cruise!
As someone who visited Maui this past Summer... I highly recommend Hawaii. It's beautiful! If you want to whale watch you have to go in the Spring though (Feb-Apr). When I went in July the whales were gone - we did see dolphins and turtles though.
Such a beautiful day you had! You are making so many of jealous. It was beautiful here in eastern Washington too- with the sun shining, but the temp was probably a high of 68 or 70. We have the Columbia, Snake & Yakima rivers here, but believe me they pale in comparison to the CA coast. I always wanted to retire in Canon Beach, OR, but the moisture is tough on my DH's asthmas so we settle for shorts trips there!
I'm a transplant from eastern Washington. Born in Sunnyside, and grew up near Spokane, so I know the area well. Your new little member of the family is darling, but then so is Charlie.
Hey Lynda...we just arrived in Carmel this afternoon. We left Gracie at our daughters for four days since I am here for a three day photography class. It is too hot!!! No A/C to be found in Carmel. Restaurants don't have it and our room in the Inn we are staying in doesn't either. Our window is on the ground floor on the street and is facing East so we can't get a breeze at all. Here it is 9:00 PM and our room must be 85 degrees or hotter. Tomorrow the temps are supposed to drop to the 60s and then to the 50s on the weekend. That will be more to my liking. Our Inn is dog friendly but I will be out all day each day and my DH plans to do some walk ons on the golf courses and hang out in the wine tasting bars. Otherwise, we would have brought Gracie with us. Maybe next time.
