Thinking about you Ginny and hoping everything is ok where you live.  Sounds like it is going to be a big storm, but you never know it may pass by your area.  Fingers and paws crossed for you and your family!

Well, all models are now headed for the northeast so we will get something--and our basement floods even with just a heavy thunderstorm so we are ready for it--three sump pumps are all set to go and the generator is ready now if the power goes out. That has always been a worry for us. Our house is 220 years old so the basement is just dirt floored and we don't keep anything down there but the water heater and the oil burner. We have a horizontal oil burner that is strapped to the ceiling so it is 4 feet off the ground. That is all we can do for now!

Will keep you all posted next week--looks like New Jersey will get hit hard too.

Wow Ginny you do have a big job ahead of you!   Your house must be beautiful.  I love old houses and the way they are designed and constructed.  Definitely keeping you in my prayers too!  Our daughter is in Great Mills, Maryland so I will be sharing my prayers between both of you and everyone else of course:)

In Washington state, fall is definitely here and we are getting snow in some of the mountain areas.  We are in eastern WA it was only 45 today with misty rain!  The summer and fall went by too quickly!

We're preparing for the Hurricane to hit tomorrow or Monday, so we also had to get rid of all the porch furniture & potted flowers....now it looks like Winter.  I'm not ready for that.

We are still having a warm fall which will change next week.  Right now the mums are beautiful and the roses are still blooming and the red maple my DH and I planted 17 years ago is just beautiful.  The sugar maple planted at the same time is just starting to change.  Thanks to Sandy all will probably be gone next week.  Hope everyone stays safe.

Where did summer go? And I love fall but the fall colors here seemed to last a minute, if that. Sitting here with Finn, outside Philadelphia in the direct path of Sandy. We were getting ready to drive to DC to watch my DN run the 26 mile Marine Marathon tomorrow but looks like we may have to cancel, do our "end of the world" shopping" and batten down the hatches as best we can. To everybody in the NE, stay safe!

Sounds familiar! The predicted track has improved for me, but is worse for you--we  have more wind and less rain, so less flooding--hope we all get thru it OK....

To everyone on the East Coast our prayers and thoughts are with you this week end. Stay safe and hopefully it will not hit as hard as they expected.

Our home on a hill, surrounded by tall trees does not feel too safe if the winds are bad. We'll see.

Wow it has cooled off here in Florida - low 80's today LOL.  Come visit this winter and bring the doods!!

To all of you under threat of this storm - our prayers are that you all stay SAFE!

We have been working full speed today, most of the leaves fell this week, lots of work there. And actually it was so quick how they fell, just last weekend I was telling Don to watch the mountain as the leaves were beginning to peak, and suddenly lots of them have already fallen.  checked the gutters for clogs, brought the baby pool back out to catch rain water from the deck, bought a few spare batteries

Yesterday I tried to buy a generator, ha!  I kinda knew it before I started making calls, but I'll be damned this will be the last storm that I will sit here without one, I asked Santa to bring me one for Christmas!  I have tons of money sitting in the deep freezer right now, :(   What I hate most will be going without electric.   If it gets as nasty as they predict, we are going to sleep in the family room in case any trees come crashing down on the house.
Tomorrow we feast on meatloaf, mashed potatoes etc, just in case its our last cooked meal!
Today I was emptying one of the compost piles into the other one and the coolest salamander showed up, I havent figured out what he is yet, he was prob 6-8 inches long, black, with webbed feet.
Tomorrow I'm going to round up all our emergency supplies in one spot.  And then, we will be as ready as we could be.  I hope you guys are doing well and have an easy time of this event,
Currently sitting on the warm dry deck, wine glass in hand of course!  Stay safe Northeasterners!
