I've lived in Jersey most of my life and have NEVER seen such devastation. I have close friends who lost everything they own including their home. Food is scarce and gasoline is a 2.5 hour wait if you can find it. Yet through all this NJSPCA agents and officers are fighting the destruction to help save lost/missing pets - starting with the hardest hit, the Jersey Shore. These animals need food, blankets, crates, towels, cleaning supplies, etc. Donations can be dropped off at Associated Humane in Tinton Falls and Lacey Township. NJSPCA will transport and distribute the supplies to animals and shelters in need. Monetary donations can be made at njspca.org hurricane chipin. Thank you for your help! Tiffi

I can't imagine how scared those poor animals must be.

i'm so glad that there are contact sites for those that left their pets behind. I, actually we, my DH expecting horrible conditions discussed what would WE do? We decided that leaving our Monty was not in the cards, he is our family, not a dog. We said we would stay in place if the situation arose to have to leave. I dont live near the waters and perhaps that is an easier decision for us? However, we prepare the best that we can to hunker down and have food and water, not so much more than that. We still covet having a generator. I do think the best situations are those rescue sites make provisions for pets. However, I will provide a monetary amount to the situation.
It breaks my heart to think of pets left behind. I can't imagine ever leaving Fudge and Vern. How frightened they would be. What a huge mess this Hurricane has caused and I hope all these pets will be taken care of and get the help they need. I will go to the website you posted now.
For those of you not near Jersey I received this e-mail from Petflow and it's and easy way to help from afar
Hi.
Firstly, thank you so much to all of you for your incredibly kind words. We never expected the type of response that we received from our customers, it is truly an honor and a privilege to work with each and every single one of you. I'm very happy to report that our warehouse is fully up and running, and we're catching up on all of your email. We are back in business.
The purpose of this email is to ask for your help. While we are okay and are back in business, there are many shelters up and down the East Coast that were ravaged by this hurricane. We don't know of any specific shelter that needs more help than another, but if you have the means, we will waive all shipping fees on products being sent to pet shelters or any pet parents that are in need of pet food. All you need to do is use code SHELTER at the checkout. We will make sure that these orders are prioritized in our warehouses and are sent out immediately. Even if the shelters don't receive the products right away, they will certainly need them when they re-open.

I received this as well. It is so good to know we can actually do something for pets in this devastating situation.
This is nice.I guess they could also donate food, though.
IMO... guess this is "good" of them to do, however I really think a nice 1/2 off price would have been better, they normally ship free anyway if you spend $50.
I prefer donating cash and letting the shelters decide where the best place is to use it and that is what I did.
Thanks for posting this! I'm so glad to see these angels of mercy out rescuing the animals. Here is a link to the NJspca Chip In for Sandy.
It is all so sad and unbelievable. I don't know what I would have done in some people's situation but I probably would have tried to drive as far inland as I could and find a place which would take me and the dogs.
I just can't see myself leaving Tara and Amber behind. My responsibility to them doesn't end with a hurricane. Although this is easy to say as I sit here in Oregon...
I wouldn't leave Rosey & Bandit behind for a minute... even if we had to live out of a car for weeks. Not discounting the challenges and limitations of others but they are my family!!
