So...soooo....sorry I have been absent. Life has been full of ups and downs.

Charlotte is now 7 weeks old. At her 4 week checkup the doc felt a click in her hip. We had an ultrasound conducted shortly thereafter. The results came back inconclusive. We had a repeat one done yesterday. Pediatrician called me yesterday afternoon confirming she has mild hip dysplasia. We are being referred to an orthopedic surgeon (pediatric); we go on the 19th. Doc said to expect for her to walear a cloth harness for 4-6 months. Google it and cry with me please .

We will get through this and I am so thankful they caught it early, but who the heck knewy daughter, not dood, would have this ???

Sorry I have been away but life has been nuts. I lost my godmother to triple negative breast cancer in October. And life with a newborn is tough. But Tacky and Peri are excellent. They are in bed with me know while daddy feeds Charlotte a bottle. Mommy enjoyed some Cabernet tonight :).

I have missed y'all more than words can express.

Awww, Allyson.  What hard news for a new mother to hear. No doubt in my mind she has the very best parents to help her through all of this but I am hoping and wishing we can help you through this because we worry about you.

If it is any comfort, my neighbor, a fire chief, had it in both hips. He grew to be big and strong , healthy, and a fire chief at the age of 28!  He said, the ordeal made him stronger, with a lot of drive to strive. A wonderful man, who can do anything now.  I hope the same for baby Charlotte.

We love and miss you.  Keep in touch when you can. I will be constantly thinking of you.

P.S. I am sad to hear the news of your grandmother :(  So very sorry.

I'm so sorry Allyson, thinking of you and little Charlotte.

Allyson I have been on and off DK too and haven't even had a chance to congratulate you and your DH on your beautiful baby girl. So first of all congratulations!!!  I'm so sorry that she has been diagnosed with this problem but glad they are able to do something to help her. I'm glad you have Tacky and Peri for moral support plus a great DH too.   Hugs to all of you and I hope the time she spends in the harness is short and effective! Hugs! Ricki

Oh, Allyson, I am so sorry to read this!  I have no advice but will pray for little Charlotte and you and your DH in the days and months ahead.  Keep us updated as time allows...

I'm so sorry to hear about Charlotte.  Will be sending good thoughts your way.  Sounds like a good prognosis, especially since you caught it early!  :)

I'm so sorry to hear this, Ally. I know how hard it is to hear that anything at all is wrong with your child. I hope your meeting with the ortho surgeon is encouraging and Charlotte has an easy and brief time with the harness.

Also sorry for the loss of your godmother. Glad you have Choodle to comfort you.

We miss you, too. Hang in there!

I'm sorry about that diagnosis. At least they discovered it early, and you can get it taken care of early in her life, so you hopefully don't have to deal with it down the road. Sorry about your godmother, too. Glad Tacky and Peri aren't making life more difficult :)

I am sorry to hear this news. But you are lucky to have an astute pediatrician so this was caught  early and treatment is easier. We at DK will be thinking of you.

Allyson, this is good that they caught it early, it is an awful looking brace thing BUT the time will pass and Charlotte will be perfect and all this is good.  It can be very lonely and exhausting with a new baby , I remember it well.  My first baby was very ill and I was 21 years old with no family support at all...long days with little sleep and loads of worry.  But, guess what these babies grow so fast, it goes in the blink of an eye so take it one step at a time and enjoy that beautiful baby.  Give her cute face a little kiss from me.

And it could be so much worse. She is otherwise completely healthy, nurses like a champ, etc.., I need to count my blessings!

Allyson, I've missed you too in our mommy group!  I'm so sorry for what you and your beautiful girl are going through.  And I'm terribly sorry for the loss of your godmother.  =(

I have a friend whose daughter had this as well...she too wore the harness (I think for a bit longer time because hers was pretty severe)  but now she is doing fine.  She just turned 2 and all is well with her, so I'm praying that Charlotte's outcome will be wonderful as well (and I'm sure it will be!)

Glad the dogs are doing well and make sure you continue enjoying some of that wine...moms need wine more than anyone!  =)   Will be thinking of you and Charlotte...the dogs and Patrick send their love!!!

Allyson, I am so sorry to hear that Charlotte has this problem, I know the next few months will be different but she and your family will weather the storm.

We all miss you hear on DK and glad that you shared with us.

Hugs to all of you and prayers headed your way.
