So...soooo....sorry I have been absent. Life has been full of ups and downs.

Charlotte is now 7 weeks old. At her 4 week checkup the doc felt a click in her hip. We had an ultrasound conducted shortly thereafter. The results came back inconclusive. We had a repeat one done yesterday. Pediatrician called me yesterday afternoon confirming she has mild hip dysplasia. We are being referred to an orthopedic surgeon (pediatric); we go on the 19th. Doc said to expect for her to walear a cloth harness for 4-6 months. Google it and cry with me please .

We will get through this and I am so thankful they caught it early, but who the heck knewy daughter, not dood, would have this ???

Sorry I have been away but life has been nuts. I lost my godmother to triple negative breast cancer in October. And life with a newborn is tough. But Tacky and Peri are excellent. They are in bed with me know while daddy feeds Charlotte a bottle. Mommy enjoyed some Cabernet tonight :).

I have missed y'all more than words can express.

You have been missed Allyson!  So sorry to hear about Charlotte, but good that you found it so early.  I would imagine the earlier you find the problem the quicker the healing.  She and your family are in my thoughts and prayers, and my condolences on your Godmother passing.

Hi Allyson.  My niece had club feet and throughout her first year of life, she started out with casts on both legs from hip to toe, then had corrective surgery, then more casts to heal, then had to wear a stiff brace for many months that sounds similar to what Charlotte will wear.  At the time it was hard of course, but that brace was just a part of her and she didn't know life any differently.  Now she is four and honestly I forget about it when I see her running around normally.  I look back at pictures and say oh yeah, Ella's brace!

Good luck with treatment and may this be a tiny blip in her fantastic life!

Allyson, thinking of you all and praying for little Charlotte to have a fast therapy period.
Ally, I am distressed that you are dealing with so many difficulties right now. I am sorry about your godmother and I am sure Charlotte's diagnosis is devastating to you. However, it sounds like her prognosis is excellent and in a few months this will all be behind you.
I know you are tough and will be able to handle all of this just like you have with Taquito's problems. Know that you have all the moral support you could want here on dk. Please keep us posted.

Oh Allyson,
Tears flow. There is nothing harder for a parent than their child in peril. I am so very sorry for you and DH as you contemplate this struggle. I pray you will find the strength to get through this will great hope for Charlotte's future. Sometimes the struggles are the places where we grow the strongest. Little Charlotte is certainly blessed to have wonderful medical care at her disposal and such loving parents to care for her. If you can keep us updated we all want to know how you are doing. I will pray for her complete recovery and for the process to be smooth and uncomplicated. much love to you all.
Thank you to everyone for your replies. They mean so much to me. We will get through it; she is healthy otherwise and so many other children have terrible diseases..I should not dwell on this and complain. I should be thankful they caught it!!!! We will get through this! I am going to do a blog post soon with new photos of dogs and baby. I will also update after the 19th once we know the exact course of treatment.
Thanks again! I will be around more now as life is getting into a rythymn now. Finally.....

We look forward to your update and your blog post, and most of all to photos of all your babies! Hang in there, you will get through this.

Allyson - this is very difficult news to get for a new mother, as a mom - whenever one of our children has a medical issue it is so very scary and sad.  I know this because many years ago when I was a young mom - my 2nd child was born with 2 severe club feet.  I was in total shock -  so I TOTALLY get how you are feeling.   Let me tell you something - when it comes to your beautiful baby - you just do what you have to do to make her well.  You are a great mom and you'll only get stronger from this.  The harness she will wear will be a major pain for you but it won't hurt her - she'll still be just as happy and beautiful.  From what I've read the prognosis for this seems to be very good - so hang in there - there will be tears but as you go along - you'll laugh too - don't let this over shadow the joy of every day watching her grow.   Hugs to you Allyson and keep us posted on her progress!!!

Im sorry to hear this...Yes I thought it was about a dood when I 1st saw the title...Then saw her name & knew it was your dd.  It is good it was caught very early...i think that will help it heal much faster.

I am sorry about the loss of your Godmother also : (

Allyson, I am so sorry to hear the news about Charlotte, but know it will all work out. It is great that you caught it early. I have missed you on DK and have been wondering how you are doing.  So sorry you lost your Godmother.

Oh my, so very sorry.  But now you need to buck up as I know you will.   Take charge!  This is not the end of world, you will overcome this obstacle. Go, go, go!  I'm very sorry you have to do this, but you will, you must.  You and Charlotte will be fine, trust me.  Just get going, it will all work out. HUGS!
