I am so excited to be the proud (and temporary) owner of the HDA trophy!! For those of you who are newbies at DK, the HDA trophy has been traveling around from one Hopeless Doodle Addict (which is a title you get after spending way too much time on DK) to another. The person sending the trophy can pack other items with it that are traditionally from the area they live in and then some goodies for the HDA and his or her doodles!

I wasn't totally surprised because Christine and Shelby had asked me for my address and advised me that the box with all my goodies was on its way from Texas to NY--then Hurricane Sandy came and went and no box. Then a week went by and no box--oh, dear! Was the HDA trophy another victim of the Hurricane?? NO!! It finally arrived and everyone was so excited to look in the box and see what came all the way from Texas!

Mattie could smell those yummy dog treats that Christine made from 20 feet away--she was digging around long after the others walked away--

Meanwhile, Lyric grabbed a bag of something and took off! Turns out it was the trophy--luckily, she didn't go far so I got it back--it was all wrapped up in a pretty leopard skin bag!

Then the cookies came out and everyone got one--they smelled so good, I almost ate one myself!

Next were the squeaky toys--oh boy---Lyric and her son Rio went nuts--Mattie was still looking for another cookie--"toys shmoys--gimme the food!"

Here is Rio with a Halloween squeaky and Lyric with the "red man" who is now her absolute favorite--she carried him around all day today.

If you are interested, you can see how Lyric went wild with her new squeaky toy and also all three getting yet another cookie by checking out this video on YOUTUBE.

In keeping with the tradition, the doodles are supposed to leave noseprints on the trophy and the easiest way to do that is with a few dabs of peanut butter! YUM!

And here I am posing with the trophy--and getting ready to do some shopping after I decide who will be next!

Here is all the loot--some yummy raspberry chipotle sauce for me and the DH and lots of great info about Christine's area of Texas--plus the HDA journal and lots of new toys for the 3 doods (there might be one missing-I think Rio took it someplace)--Thanks SO MUCH Christine and Shelby!!

Uh Oh. I can't use the reply button again. It is my turn to be haunted.
Shinny Trophy! It is supposed to be smudgy. It should have had Doodle Kisses all over the star.

I myself polished it before sending it on. There had been no discussion of nose prints back then.

Things have changed a lot with the passing of the HDA. Originally, you were supposed to just give a small gift to the human, not to the dogs. The packages have gotten a lot more elaborate and lavish as time has gone by. JD says he wishes I had not become an HDA so early on, lol!

A little history on the Kisses to the Star of the Trophy. When I passed it on to Ann Kendig, we were at a Doodle Romp. Lots of Doodles from PA, OH, and MI attended. We all kissed the trophy for good luck, a celebration of Doodles, and all being addicts. We promised to never clean it again and asked that each doodle who received the trophy smell each other :) Thus, the smudges. The are KISSES. Doodle Kisses

Thanks everyone! And yes, the star is not so shiny anymore! I think that the doodles have worn the shine off with their tongues!!

Congratulations!

Congrats and welcome to the club!

Congrats, Ginny! Looks like you got quite a haul from Christine and Shelby!  How fun!  I'm a HDA as far as points go, but never have received the coveted trophy, hint, hint...

Doris... I should have just brought it to you in Bryan.... Maybe then I would have gotten it to the next person sooner than I did :(

That's the way I felt too--"hey, what about me?!" Good things come to those who wait!!
