Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I took my little dood to the groomer for the first time this past week. I was VERY specific about what I wanted, and more importantly about what I DID NOT want. I asked for him to be bathed, brushed, trim hair on paws and between pads, and scissor trim around the eyes just so much that it isn't in his eyes. Well when I came to pick up my little monster it looks like she took a razor to the hair around the eyes (I think she said she "scooped" the eyes). This I could deal with, as I knew he was happier that he could see a bit better. But worst of all she used the razor down the bridge of his nose!!! Has anyone else had an experience like this? I'm trying to figure out how long it will take for him to look like his "normal" scruffy self. I feel like a bad doodle mom =(
I attached a picture of his BEFORE just so you can see his coat

I not only tell the groomer verbally when I go in, but I have a pre-made list written down. After I tell her verbally what I want, I give the list to her and say something like "Well I made you this in case I confused you with all my instructions, or you forget." She doesn't seem to mind.
So sorry, this just happened to us recently too! We've decided to start grooming at the very least Stella's face. Here's a good video to watch if you're interested in doing it yourself: http://www.royaldiamondlabradoodles.com/grooming_videos
and probably more available on the grooming forum. All said, I think he's adorable and the fur will grow back pretty quickly on his face :)
OMG that sounds like exactly what happened to my 5 month old doodle. We took him to the petsmart for his first groom (puppy package $10) just to get him used to getting bathed, nails and ears done and a minor trim, because when it comes to grooming i just feel more comfortable taking him to another place. But anyway they did a good job with trimming around his eyes, paws and everywhere else and fluffing him all up, but it literally looked like they took the electric razor to his poor nose, right down the middle of it. We hated it! That was about a month ago and it still hasn't fully grown back. We know now for next time to tell them to leave his nose alone, and if they need to trim it to only do it with scissors. NO matter what I what Brody is still a cutie and i'm sure your doodle is too, regardless of their shaved noses lol
The groomer did Cooper that way and my husband told her not to do that anymore. It will take about 5 - 6 weeks for it to grow out. It did Cooper.
If you click on his picture here you will be able to see how she did his.
been there- done that! I was so upset. The good news is it does grow back very fast. I was told they shaved it like a poodle-the black pigment showed thru and I hated it. So now I make sure they only hand scissor trim the beard and around his mouth.
That happened several times when we were taking G & M to Petco. Now they go to a small private groomer who does a fantastic job....all scissors. She's a little more expensive but so worth it.
I brought Holly to our groomer and mentioned that I wanted her paws trimmed a bit. But I didn't want Poodle Paws. Her daughter, who also works in the grooming shop, thought that I had said, I wanted poodle paws and begain trimming way until her horrified mom said NO POODLE PAWS.
The result was that Holy had one paw clipped like a poodle. I think it was about two months until the hair around the paw grew out.
I actually like that look on doodles... little slipper feet. It would be so nice for my doodles here in the wet Pacific NW (nicer for me). Problem is my DH won't allow it, so its a no-go!
