Oh dear--so sorry--all I can say is that I walked my doodles around my dad's neighborhood in Medford (near Patchogue in Suffolk county) and a woman stopped her car and asked me where I groom my doodles--she has had the same problem as you! I live way upstate and groom my doodles myself, so I wasn't much help. Hope someone has a solution! You could take a picture of the look you want and add comments to it--like "longer here then a poodle" and "more blending of the length of the hair here" --maybe that would help. The way I groom doodles is to not have any sharp cut offs where the length is longer, on top of the head, for example, then suddenly shorter on the neck---it should blend gradually from longer to shorter and I think that is part of the poodle look people hate to see.
Donna. I gave you my groomers info. But I agree. I would always go with pictures you like and tell her what you want. Everyone wants something different so you have to tell the groomer how you want your doodle groomed.I like the head to blend too.
I used TLC in Huntington for the first cut he had, and it was okay, but too much from around his eyes. He needs another cut now-any suggestions for Huntington area? If not, I will take pictures this time and hope for the best.
