Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
In a recent post, I asked DK parents what breeds people often mistake their doodles for. With Duncan, it's almost aslways an Irish Wolfhound (I keep him quite shaggy!). I have developed a little dog-crush on that breed in recent months, so I don't know if it's that or that I volunteer with the PSPCA, but I am very into this local Philadelphia story and think I am in love with Patty :).

I am SO glad that he has been rescued (along with two other dogs) and I pray he finds the loving home he deserves.

It certainly is possible. I pretty much fell in love with Guinness when I saw his puppy picture on the breeder's site. I thought I'd be in love with Murph when I heard his "DRC story" and then I saw the picture and it was a "done deal".
Definitely...When I was looking into getting a second doodle, before I knew about Maggie, I fell in LOVE with a little cream doodle named Lucy. She was beautiful, she was petite (very small for an F1), and I thought she was going to be mine. I looked at her picture all the time. I even bought a collar for her. Then, the breeder that I had been talking with for a long time told me about Maggie. I agreed to meet her, but since she was much bigger, I figured my heart already belonged to Lucy. When we met Maggie, her size didn't matter because she's so gentle, so we decided to go with her instead. But, I think about Lucy a lot and hope she's doing okay too.
Oh I definitely fall in love with dogs I have never met! It happens a lot with my fosters. They send me an email and sometimes a picture and I'm already in love before I even get there to pick them up. Irish Wolfhounds are awesome dogs though! They are definitely easy to fall in love with!
Fell in love with Meg from her rescue picture and knew we were bringing her home even before driving 2.5 hours to see her.
I don't think it's silly at all. When I started looking for a doodle, the first picture I saw was of a dog named Bocelli and I fell in love. Over the next year, I went back and forth. Visited breeders, rescue, etc. Did I really want a dog again? After several frustrating dead ends, I decided that if God wanted me to have a dog he would drop MY dog on my doorstep. Then a picture of a little blond puppy arrived in my email and I fell in love. He was exactly the puppy I imagined when I closed my eyes and he was available because the people who had originally reserved him didn't want him. I was in the middle of getting ready for an outdoor concert for 5,000 people. This was the worst possible time but I called and emailed the breeder, sure that she had such a long list of people I wouldn't get a reply. But within an hour she called, we talked, and Finnegan was mine if I wanted him. Did I want him? You betcha. I made the 2 hour drive from Philadelphia and he's been the love of my life from day 1. Did I mention that it turned out Bocelli was his dad? Kismet:)
We met an Irish Wolfhound in the park the other day. What a beautiful gentle giant. It makes me so sad to hear these stories but I hope they all get loving homes.
I don't think it's silly at all. I fell in love with Darwin when I saw his picture in my local classifieds. Yes, 3 1/2 years ago I bought Darwin from a backyard breeder after seeing him in my local classifieds. It's hard to contemplate now, but of course there is no way I could regret having my sweet perfect Darwin. :-)
There was one other time that I completely fell for a dog that I only saw in a picture. Brianne, the Newfiedoodle Ann Kendig wrote a blog about a while back. As soon as I saw her I got chills, and I immediately just fell in love. DH and I looked at the blog so many times, and we were both head over heels, as much as we knew it just wasn't going to happen. :-)
