I took Trav in to Petco, where I was going to give him a bath, and got talking to the groomer. Next thing I knew, I'd checked him in for a bath and trim. Now, this is shorter than I like as a rule, but his ears were matted, and there were mats between his toes, and I'd scissored off a bit of fur myself so he was looking fairly uneven. Now I'm worried about him getting cold when he goes outside!

Why did they have to him quite so close. No use in asking I suppose. Maybe next time you could try to time things so he gets done in October : ) Anyway it's done and you both will be fine.
I think the groomer was trying to match some of my inept trimming--and I wasn't really specific enough about what I wanted. But, like you said, it's done now, and we'll just have to work with what we have--or don't have. Last time he was cut this short was in winter too. What a silly doodle mom!
So dramatic!!
Camilla, I was thinking about Darwin when I saw Trav! I remember this dramatic difference. Darwin is gorgeous both long and short, but sure looks different!
Wow, Tara wants to know who that handsome new doodle is! His color is beautiful and I bet he feels like velvet. Is his coat thick or does he have an undercoat? If not I would try the sweater. Tara wears one when the temp drops below 40 degrees. Her hair is fine and thin so she is pretty exposed. At least give the sweater a try. He might choose to suffer rather than endure the indignity of a sweater though. :)
Ricki, I must say I love petting this velvet dog. His coat is thin, with no undercoat--fine and thin, like Tara. I think I'll head over to PetSmart tomorrow--and let the battle begin! LOL
Pick him up a coat!... Please, get him a coat. He looks cold.
Patti, he was warm enough in the photo, but that was inside. I'll look for a sweater, or coat. Thanks for caring about him. :)
I will try to get his new sweater on him, and if things go well I'll try for a picture. Right now it's warm enough out so I can procrastinate. :)
I think Trav might need a coat for a while. :-} As everyone always says, it will grow.
