Doesn't take much to bring tears to my eyes these days.  All I have to do is let my mind wonder a little bit and here they come.  This morning though Miss Sophie was working on my heart!  She hasn't been feeling very well at all this week and this morning since about 2:00 am she has just wanted to be outside laying in the frozen grass.  Apparently it feels good on her stomach.  Anyway, the times I took her out overnight I took her on leash so I could get her to come back in.  However, most of the morning she has been outside just laying, sniffing, and looking around.  She might woof, but rarely gets up to go check anything out.  Mike had brought her in while I was at the gym because it started snowing really hard.  As soon as I got back she wanted out again so I let her out since it had stopped snowing.  After about 45 mins out there and my trying unsuccessfully several times to get her to come in, I heard a little woof and went to look and there was her little face looking in the back door.  I was like finally.  So, when I opened the door she just stood there.  She didn't want to come in, she wanted Lucy to come out and keep her Company.  I called Lucy and she came, but really didn't want to go out.  I finally convinced her to go out, and she just went out to Sophie and they both layed down.  Lucy has gotten pretty used to the fact that Sophie really can't play much.  They might run across the back yard (slowly) together but that is about it.  Sophie just needed some company.  Sorry, no pictures, but I'm not sure I would have been able to capture the feeling on film anyway.  It is just the sweetest thing seeing them together like that!

Those sweet sweet faces looking at us through the door are always heart tuggers, but your dear Sophie waiting for Lucy to come out and lay with her is just too precious. I think of you guys often and pray the treatments help her feel like her old self again soon.

Oh Sherri, this brought tears to my eyes too...I am so hoping for Sophie to be done with all this and get her strngth back and be herself again.  Isn't the relationship that they have so special...If only people could learn from the goodness that animals have, this world would not be what it is....Hugs to all of you...

Sherri, I think of Sophie often and hope she is feeling better soon. It is so sweet that Lucy is happy just to keep her company,  in my mind I can picture the two of them side by side. Maybe Sophie just likes to be outside enjoying the sights and sounds and it has nothing to do with being too warm.  Hugs to all of you.

Sheri, I sooo hope for nothing but good things for Sophie! I will be saying some extra prayers for her tonight. I think about all of you a lot. I know its hard to watch her suffer and not be able to make her better now. But you are doing what is best for her so she will be better soon. I'm so glad She has you to give her that extra special love. She knows you are helping her get better.

Sometimes its just better to let the tears flow. I know mine are. I'm so looking forward to next February when you all will be down here in Florida and Daphne can play with Lucy and Sophie!!!

That is so sad but so sweet that they understand each other so well. Hugs!

What a lovely story. I am so touched that your sweet girl wanted her sister to come outside with her. Even sick, she was loving the snow and wanted to share it. Know that you are dear to my heart and I am always grateful to hear how Sophie is doing. love to you and the girls.

So glad Sophie has her "best bud" to help her through these tough times.  I know when my daughter's Dixie was going through Lymphoma treatment, it was quite the roller coaster ride.  Some days, Dixie was almost her old, healthy self, but other days it looked pretty dismal.  Just when we'd pretty much given up hope, she'd somehow rally and start feeling better.  Will send prayers and positive thoughts that Sophie responds well to the new medication regimen.

Sad, but so sweet!  I sure hope Sophie starts to feel better soon.

Sheri, Im sorry. I did not know Sophie had cancer. I was out of town when you posted...I had no idea. : (
My Angel dog Jade had Lymphoma.

I hope she perks up soon.

Im glad Lucy went outside to share in the cold snow .

This tugs at my heart strings too....what a special bond they have for each other.  My heart strings go out to you too.  Words can't express my thoughts and feelings and I don't know exactly what you are going through but I have been on a similar journey of caring for a beloved dog with cancer.
