Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Looking for any suggestions/opinions. I have begun research on the 3 types of dogs and am having a hard time deciding what's best for my family. Anyone have any comments on which type is better? Thanks!

Which breed do you have that sheds heavily?

Stanlee is an F1 standard labradoodle.  He is not quite a year old and is 29 inches tall (at the whithers) and over 70 pounds and still gaining.  And he is the BEST DOG EVER but I'm not biased or anything.

I just today posted a couple of pics showing how much he sheds if you'd like to go to my page, this will give you an idea.

Thanks for posting the pics! I do see the fur! Do Australian Labradoodles shed any less?

No idea - he is not an Australian Labradoodle.  His father is an 81 pound parti-colored standard poodle and his mother is a 65+ pound chocolate labrador retriever.

I have 2 australian labradoodles and they don't drop hair like a regular shedder does but that does not mean that I don't have hair in my house.  Whenever I brush them I get a lot of hair that comes out in the brush.  I don't have any fleece clothing in my house because somehow doodle hairs keep getting stuck to it in little balls when it comes out fo the dryer.  I don't use white comforters in my house because you would see black Cubbie hair nor do I wear khakis anymore for the same reason.  Ollie has a wool coat more like a poodle and I don't typically notice his hair around the house but kept a lint roller in my desk drawer to remove hair from my black dress pants.  and somehow my 2 non shedding dogs get hair all over my car. It doesn't show up as little hairs like it does when you have a lab that sheds, it mostly just gets stuck to certain types of fabric.

Lisa, I have a Multi Gen. Australian Labradoodle and she does NOT shed at all and she will be two next mo.  Now maybe down the line she will when she is older, I do not know. This is our first Doodle and most of the information we have learned is from this site and I don't know what I would do without these wonderful Doodle lovers on DK.  Trust them, they know their Doodle stuff:)

I think Doodles MIGHT be heavy shedders--but Wheatens are fairly consistent--most terriers that are curly do not shed and need to be clipped--

Just for comparison, my Peri is an F1 goldendoodle and she sheds lightly (nothing like a golden, but she does shed at times).  I really do encourage you to go with a guaranteed non shedder if that is a big deal to you.  Poodles don't shed at all!

Wheatens don't shed at all either. But Poodles, especially Standard Poodles, are much, much easier dogs to live with and train. :-)

That's why I said poodle. I grew up with terriers...and let's just say DH and I probably won't get one ever.  I loved my cairns (3 total), but man they are hard. STUBBORN

Yeah I agree. Poodles are a great option because they don't shed AND they are easier to live with. :-)

Just out of curiousity...how are poodles easier to live with? I know you have a lot,of experience with poodles.....I feel like Jack acts very much like a poodle and not a doodle...but really I am just guessing since I never lived with a poodle ...
