Hi I guess this could be considered a silly question but I know this is the place for all the smart answers though . I d like to find and put in a product like Cheez whiz or a cheese that you can squirt into the Kong
I'd am questioning if its ok & a good idea ......I called my holistic pet store they don't carry anything just wondering how safe this is...it's got to be easier than getting pnutbutter into the little Kong toys for puppies!! I have given her that would like it to be simpler for me...I make a huge mess doing that. She has had Sweet Potato chips they are great also
Just wondered ring about a squirt product if safe & which exactly if a good idea
Thanx in advance
Happy weekend to all

Wow Joanne, accept for the chunks of doggie biscuits and the leg bones, that sounds like a nice treat for a human :)

I think you can do better than that. :-) What we put in Darwin's red kong is peanut butter and plain yogurt mixed together and frozen inside of it. (we pipe it in with a ziplock) It takes him quite a while to lick it all out.

Agree. No Cheez Wiz!   Not for me either.  If you must do cheese, chunk slices of real Cheddar Cheese may work but  be cautious of the fact that dogs can't digest fats like humans either.

Fatty products= Pancreatitis ( see Health and Medical Issues Group here on DK) so easy on the peanut butter too

Stick with yogurt, pumpkin, green beans, kibble. No human food.

Why am I so smart and knew I wood hear from you good folks qwikly and with good ideas.??lol
I have waited to go to mkt. till I had gotten some info...On my way! I ❤ hte idea of pnutbutter & zip locks!! Brilliant!!
Still one more question...as long as I'm being so prudent...which kind of yogurt & any flavor ok? I guess Greek mite b best its lower in fat/right??
Thanks again for good ideas & rapid fire responses!!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS to all

Plain (no flavoring) fat-free yogourt.  I don't think it matters Greek vs. regular.

Have fun with the doggie treat making :)

I usually put a few pieces of treats in the bottom of Luna's kong then fill the rest with a fresh banana.  It's quick and easy and healthy!

Yup... non-fat plain yogurt. We put it on the dog's kibble every morning.

I really like the banana idea.  I use low fat cream cheese in Kongs, too, but not too much.  He likes it better than peanut butter.

unflavored plain yogurt.

Any plain  yogurt. Do not use Sugar free or any product for that matter with artificial sweeteners.  Art ificial Sweeteners are deadly to dogs also.

I use a sterile marrow bone and spread peanut butter (homemade for safety) on the inside of it.  I did ask my vet when I first started doing this about cheese whiz and she said do peanut butter.  Actually it makes sense since I don't eat cheese whiz at all so why give it to my doodle.

You know how we always say Vets don't know enough about nutrition, well the first Vet we took Daisy to use Cheeze Whiz in a can so the dogs would pay attention to that instead of getting examined. She would spray some on directly on the exam table. I was not on DK at the time and did not know better. UGH!

We used to mash oatmeal and peanut butter together to form a thick paste and keep it in the refrigerator to spoon into the kibble filled kong....it would sort of act as a "plug".    I'd keep a couple in the freezer and when we were going out and had to crate Banjo I'd say "Do you want a goodie?" and that little guy couldn't get into his crate fast enough!   The frozen peanutbutter/oatmeal mash kept him busy for quite a while.
