Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

We have tried soooo many toys for our 6 1/2 month Golden Doodle but we eats through them and we have to throw them away. Any kind of rope toy with a ball in it, or a stuffed toy of ANY kind is out. He rips them to shreds. We even bought him one of those little "doggy tires" that are made of hard rubber and it lasted for a while but just noticed he has started tearing it up / eating it as well. It's gone to the garbage.

We have some nylabones that we likes (the white ones...if we give him the kind he can eat, they are gone in a day)....

Any thoughts on toys that will last? Does everyone else have the same problem we are having?

Are stuffed toys completely out of the picture?

I can't speak from any experience since I've never really had a power chewer but here a few links that might help you:

It looks like the Kong Extreme and Nuts for Knots show up on several of the lists along with the Nylabones.

Thanks! This looks like a great list!

Any of the toys that Meg could chew up are only allowed when we are playing with her.  The type that are left down are her bones, antlers and nylabone toys.

All of these are good.

West Paw Design – Zogoflex: Huck, Bumbi and Hurley Dog Toys
Chuckit Ultra Dog Balls
Nylabone Galileo

Haley has all but the Galileo.  He hasn't destroyed them in the 2-3 years he has had them.  We cannot give him any stuffed or unstuffed soft toys.  He destroys them and has tried to swallow pieces.

Haley also gets marrow bones from the butcher which I microwave a few minutes to be able to remove the marrow.

The dog I had before Haley got the Nylabone Galileo Souper and would wear them down over a period of time and about ones every six months or more I would get him a new one.

All of the above can be purchased though Amazon using the DK link.

The only toy Skeet can't destroy is the large smooth kong ball. Everything else is toast in a matter of minutes. He has had his kong balls ( one for inside ad one for outside and one for the lake ) for several years and they still look great.

Zogoflex toys - only thing Roo cannot destroy.  Just google zogoflex

Antlers! We get ours from Antler pantry.

Stuffies were off the table from 6 months til about 2 years.

I've had the same problem with Chloe. The only things she does not destroy, and absolutely loves to play with are her chuck it balls and the West Paw Design zygoflex toys. I have also had to take away the white nylabones after a while. I find that the Dura Chew nyla bones are harder for her to destroy!

Oh, I so know what you are saying.  There is almost nothing that Libby doesn't tear apart in a matter of minutes.  We found one ball that she loves and so far cannot tear or eat it up and she has had it for ten months.  We do have some Kong toys and she does not tear them up, but really isn't interested in them.  The Nylabone she likes and so far it is still in one peace.  This is the ball we found, you might try it!   Good luck:)

You could try food puzzles such as the Buster cube. Hide food and they have to lean to turn it to get the food out. They are made of hard plastic.
