Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I am soooo excited.  I just received an e-mail from the breeder, with photos, confirming the pregnancy--the litter of Labradoodles is due on April 22, 2013.  Now, time to WAIT some more :).

Congratulations!  Waiting is the hard part.

I remember the excitement well, enjoy this preparation time.

So you will be able to take her home in the summer!  not sure where you live, but potty training in the summer around my neck of the woods was far better than it would have been with the winter we had.

How exciting!

Thanks everyone.  Yes, a summer puppy is great.  I am in PA where the winters are pretty cold...not too much snow this year though.  The kids will be able to help with training, socializing, etc.  We are all super excited.  Now, I have to hope that there are enough pups in the litter for us to get one...  Hopefully, she will have another big litter...fingers crossed.  The count down begins :).

Congratulations!!!  I'm excited for you!!

Waiting was the hardest part.

Awesome! Now that is a reasonable amount of time to wait for a labradoodle pup, to answer your last post! Lol. Did breeder have even a guesstimate of fetuses? What number are you on the list?

She didn't estimate fetuses but promised to keep us updated with photos, etc.  This same female had 8 beauties in her last litter, so I am hoping for another big one.  I plan to ask where I am on the list...right now, the word is "firmly positioned." :)

congrats :D so far for me the wait has been the most excruciating part of my ordeal haha... longest 2+months ever so far :p but it'll all be worth it... are you able to drive and visit the breeder's place??? for me that's what made this wait a little more tolerable since i've been able to visit several times :)

The breeder is having an Open House on May 5th which would be great for visiting residence, seeing the parents and other dogs, etc.  But, the litter will still be quite young at that time, so I will probably wait.  It is a 4.5 hr drive so I think I'd prefer to visit when I can interact with the puppies to get a feel for which one should be mine--the breeder makes the final determination.  Any thoughts on this matter?

ah yea i understand... my breeder is also about 5hrs away from where I live... although for me it was a much simpler decision since I absolutely love driving haha... for me I went to see the parents about 2 wks before the pups were born and went to visit the pups when they were 4 wks and 6 wks... though I think I'll have my breeder fly my pup to a local airport because I think 1 hour of traveling is alot safer vs 5 hours of traveling(especially driving through mtn roads) :)

I agree with you regarding having the pup flown to a local airport.  I will probably do the same.  If my family is up for 2 visits, I would love to go to the Open House to meet other interested families, etc.  But for right now, I'm saving that trip for the 6-7 week visit.

I just wanted to say we picked up our Fudge in Indiana and drove 600 miles home with her. My daughter was with me and Fudge was perfect in the car. When we got Vern we had another long drive and drove 350 miles home with him. He was equally as wonderful in the car. No problems whatsoever. Many people do fly their pups home to them, but I preferred to pick them up in person. We have had heated discussions about this topic and it is indeed personal preference, but I loved the anticipation of picking them up in person and knowing they were safe with me until we got home. I have seen what they do to luggage and was not taking a chance with my dogs. Again, personal preference. Good luck!
