No, it's because they're like potato chips, you're never satisfied with just one. I still have one but I always want more. Doodles have the best personalities of any dogs I've met.

Oh, that is perfect Donna and sooooo true!  Love it!  We only have Libby, but I would LOVE to have another one:)

Skeet likes other dogs especially the goldendoodle next door but he is very happy with just his people around too. I never get the feeling that he is lonely for canine companionship. One, two, three or more it is just a matter of personal preference..

I have 2 but I think that Cubbie may have been happier as an only doodle  :)

I have two doodles and a Springer Spaniel.  Our second doodle was a rescue and I think he was and would have continued to be happy as an only dog, however now that he integrated himself into our family, I think he would hate being an only dog.  Our other doodle (the little prince) would be perfectly happy as an only dog and king of all he surveys.

I think there are two issues here. You have a three month old who is quite clingy.  I would work on that immediately to make sure you don't end up with a dog with separation anxiety. One of my previous dogs had a severe case and it was really dreadful. So start immediately, leaving your puppy for a few minutes at a time in her crate with a Kong or something else to keep her happy.  When you come back do not make a big fuss of her.  When you leave do not make a fuss either As she is only three months you can do a lot to make sure you have a confident independent doodle.

The second issue is whether you 'need' two doodles.  The answer is no, most of us here who have two have done it for ourselves.  While I might have used the fact that Riley was on his own sometimes each day as an excuse, he was perfectly happy before his brother arrived. We got Boris because we love Riley so much and wanted to add to our family. They do love each other and introducing Boris has been very easy as he follows his big brother and they play all day. It is more expensive though and room on our bed for basics (like my legs for example) has become very scarce lol

LOL NIcky--I'm sure Boris and Riley see the sacrifice of your legs as a perfectly reasonable tradeoff for their comfort. ;)

One dog or three, there is never room on the bed for your legs. They just keep moving over until they hit something to prop their heads on or lean against. LOL

So true Sue, but I love it:)

We started out thinking that we'd be perfectly happy with one Doodle.  Then I started thinking about how much I really wanted to rescue (we bought our first from a breeder).  Well Murph came to rescue, relinquished as a 10 wk old puppy due to family allergies, and the rest was history.   I took one look at his picture and fell in love with this boy.  I think my older Doodle would be okay as an "only dog", but I do think that having his "brother" to play with has been a really good thing for him.  They really have become a bonded pair.

I agree with Donna K if I could I would have 100's of Doodles, the more the better, I say!!!!!

Once we had our first doodle, we realized how truly unique they are...doodles recognize other doodles & are happy to see them...they all have a similar play style (twisting, spinning to encourage another doodle to play)...Baker is a 'dog's dog'...he loves them all.  In our family, it's been fun for Baker & even more fun for us to have a second doodle...they are loving & keep us laughing.
