Intra hepatic shunted liver

Our sweet Macy is 17 weeks old and has been diagnosed with a shunted liver! She is showing ALL the signs! It's so sad to watch her! She's had several seizures with the severe neurological symptoms (walking the walls with her head down and pressing her head into things and wobbly!)
Is there anyone on here that has a happy, healthy labradoodle with a shunted liver that is controlling the toxins with diet and meds?? We just can't afford to spend the $6000 on a surgery that is complicated with a low success rate! Help!?

Oh, so sorry! We were just researching this because of a pup I knew that turned out not to have the disease--but it is certainly serious--and I think surgery is the only way to go--I saw something on the internet that there is a 95 % success rate, but then a vet said that it was not often successful....have you spoken to the breeder about it? Sometimes you will get your money back and that could help with the cost.

Our breeder told us she would give us another pup from another liter, but can't do a cash refund. The chances of this type of surgery being successful long term is low, that is coming right from Michigan State University, which does the surgeries in MI! The likelihood of another vessel being affected post surgery is probable, then we would be back to square one!
It's breaking our hearts!!!!! I have cried for 6 days straight now! :(

Does your purchase contract cover reimbursement for life-altering genetic diseases? 

According to the veterinary literature I've read, the success rate for the surgery is usually over 90%, as mentioned in the links I posted above. It does appear that the surgery is your best bet. You might look into working with the Doodle Messenger: http://doodlemessenger.webs.com/

The surgery success rate for external hepatic vessel surgery IS very high; however the success rate for the intra hepatic surgery is not as good. Unfortunately. It's a more expensive and intricate process.
