Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I'd posted this in someone else's discussion, where it may not be readily seen, so I wanted to share with everyone in the group.

This was Oscar's 2nd groom and I think he turned out okay. Notes for the next groom are to blend the top of the head with the ears more and not shave the bridge of the nose. Those aren't major concerns with me, though. My biggest issues are wanting a longer cut leg (I don't want to see joints... ever), and a poodle poof on top of the head, neither of which happened this groom. Oscar will be 7 mos. old on the 13th, BTW.

Here's his before and after pics. Oscar is on left in the Before, with Lucy to the right of him (top pic), After is bottom pic:

Such a couple of cuties!

They both look so hugable and cute.

Debb......Oscar is one day older than Monty!  :)

I just checked out your page, Debi (and your pictures). Monty is one handsome fella... and he looks LARGE for his age (but not overweight). How much does he weigh and how tall is he? We've got Oscar on a diet, supplementing his meals with green beans. For the past few weeks he's been on the diet he hasn't gained but maybe 1/2 lb. I know he's still growing, so the goal isn't for him to lose weight but to gain it more slowly. Oscar's a stocky little guy and is all about FOOD.

Well thank you Debb!  I happen to think Oscar and Lucy are quite the handsome couple as well, and they both look so incredibly soft.  I just love the light color.  :)  Monty is a pretty big boy.  He currently weighs 60 lbs and stands 24 inches high on the middle of his back....but he is also LONG!  No telling what size he will be when it is all said and done.  But for some reason, he thinks he is a little guy....you know....crawling up on my lap to sit and doing stuff like that.  How big is Oscar?  What food are you feeding him?  I have done the green bean diet many times over the years with my Goldens and it sure does work!  I just had to change Monty's food, as he was doing some vomiting and had loose stools.  So far (it has only been two days) but it seems to be helping.  I know what you mean about " it is all about food" to these boys!  Mine lives to eat!  I honestly think he is part goat!  :)

Oh yes, I can relate to the 'part goat' theory. We have to be extra vigilant to ensure NOTHING is on the floors that Oscar could pick up and swallow. He's super fast about it when he finds something, too.

Monty is going to be one BIG boy! I hear ya about him thinking he's still a little guy.... Oscar does too. He'll make a running jump for my lap which really takes the wind out of me! Oscar has been right around the 45lb. mark now for 2-3 weeks (I haven't measured his height). With his new shorter cut I thought we'd see a leaner Oscar underneath, but he's still stocky. I do see his lifted tummy now though (and his waist is smaller than his chest from above, which is good). I think maybe he'll always be a sturdy looking guy (with big paws and broad chest). He really is the biggest sweetheart, though. He loves to cuddle (and his coat is soooo soft). He kind of melts into you, softening all his muscles so he's like a big teddy bear to-hold. Lucy, our other doodle, is more the sensitive, love-me-at-a-distance kind of girl. She likes to be close, but not on you.

Sorry to hear about Monty's tummy troubles. Lucy went through that a couple months ago and I had to put her on a boiled chicken/white rice/sweet potato diet (small frequent meals). She was better after about a week, when I very slowly transitioned back to her regular food (Fromm's Game Bird dry).

Oscar is currently eating Acana's Lamb and Okanagan Apple dry food (I switched him from Lucy's food to Acana's single protein food due to the possibility of a food sensitivity/intolerance). He loves it (which isn't saying a lot since he'll eat rocks if given a chance) and seems to be doing well on it. It does makes his poops smaller and harder... and less smelly!

He looks so soft.

Awww handsome little man. He does look soft and cuddly.

Such a pair of sweeties!  Oscar is really rocking that plush look!
