Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hi Everyone!
My pup was born March 24th, so I am trying to wait patiently until May when I can bring her home. I am getting an F1 goldendoodle, so excited!! Anyone else out there still waiting for theirs? I still need a name for her too... just hate decisions. Anyone have any suggestions that I might not have heard of? I want something unique.

Congratulations! It will be hard to be patient until May. Are you getting pictures from your breeder so you can see your puppy from week to week? Have you chosen your puppy from the litter yet? We bring our puppy home in 2 days!
As for a name - did you think of combining your children's names to make a unique name?
Hi Kristin!
Yes, I have been getting pictures. Not of the pups individually yet, since they are still so little, but it is so fun to see them nonetheless! I was actually first on the breeder's list for this litter, so I will get the first pick of the females. Puppy selection won't be until they are about 5 or 6 weeks old, so end of April, I think. That's a good idea to combine my children's names, I will have to see what I can come up with.
How fun for you, 2 days? That is so exciting!! I can't wait to read about all the fun you have. So, is this puppy named Sophie then? I like that name. Part of my problem is that I like too many names.;)
Hi Sara,
Yes her name is Sophie. :) We had thought of the name Mace - It was taking our middle initials (my husband is "M", I am "A" and my step daughters are "C" and "E". We would have spelled it Macie though. So, just an idea - however, you will have a hard time if you don't have any vowels. LOL
That's great that you are first pick of the females. Will you get to go in person? We live about 6 hours away from the breeder so we chose based on pictures, videos and the fact that there was only one blonde female in the litter and that's what our girls liked the most!
We do get her in 2 days. We are so excited. We have been counting down since we picked her at 4 weeks of age. I can't believe it's finally here. I'm glad we are getting her on a Friday because we will get to spend time with her over the weekend before the next work week.
We were trying to think of names of favorite characters from tv shows, movies, etc - or even favorite sports players. It is hard to settle on one name, but once you decide it just fits and you know it's the right name. Sometimes, just by looking at the puppy pictures you get a feel of what name you think fits best.

I know what you mean, my breeder is 2 hours away. Before I decided to give her my deposit, she let me come up and see the pregnant female and her last litter of puppies. I took my 2 youngest kids with me that day, and my older 2 were upset with me, so I promised to take them all next time. My breeder actually just e-mailed me today saying that she would do the puppy selection on the same day they come home to save me 2 trips. So, I won't be going up until May 11, when I will take her home.
So, you work? What do you do? I work part time from home, and am a little nervous how I am going to juggle all this. I asked for that first week off after we bring her home, which should help. I do medical transcription from home, which is very flexible and I can get on and off the computer a much as I need to, but still a little nervous about it.
You are way ahead of me as I am still waiting on my girl to be conceived. I have picked out a few names. My best recommendation it to do a google search. Do you have things that have special meanings to you? If so then ad them to the search. A particular musician that you favor? If so then do a search of their songs and CD titles. A last name of family is always a consideration. I just got a couple of donkeys and named them King and Kirkley (my dad's and mom's last names). That should at least get the ball rolling! Good luck with your new baby!
Thanks for the suggestions Melissa, family names are always a good idea.:) I am sorry that you still have quite a wait. I feel your pain. I was originally looking at getting a dog for my kids for Valentines, but we kept pushing the date back. So, I have been looking at dogs since the end of January.:( Luckily, it is almost here. Keep us posted on when you hear the mama's pregnant! That is such a fun day!
Thanks Sarah
wow! I wrote a much longer and more detailed comment about being excited for you and details on my pup. Not sure what happened but don't have the heart to do it aging right now. :(
Ha ha.. I understand. When you get a chance, I want to hear more details on your pup! :)
My little guy was born on March 20th! I get to go pick him up on May 16th, so i am right there with you! I am so excited/nervous to have a puppy in the house. I live 3 hours away from my breeder, but she is good about pictures, and I have second pick of the males (which there are 5 of) and get to choose which one I want in two weeks when they are 5 weeks. I am so incredibly excited. Can't wait to hear all about your new girl!
Katherine, Yay! We are getting our puppies so close together, how fun!! I am also a little nervous about having a new puppy in the house. I am 2 hours away from my breeder, so I understand. She called off the "puppy selection" so I wouldn't have to drive up there twice. I get first pick of the females, so I will go up May 10 and pick her out and bring her home! I have learned so much on being on here at DoodleKisses, and I have only been on here a week! I am excited to go through this with you!;)
That is so great! I am so excited to get my little guy. My breeder is pretty nice from what I can tell, and i know there are a lot of people who have gotten their doodles from her. I took off of work on the 16th so I would be able to drive up there, get him, and spend all day with him. I've had pretty good luck in the past with pottty training, so I am hoping that since this breed is supposed to be so smart, it will be a piece of cake! This website is pretty awesome...it's kind of like a parent website...only for doodles! I am excited to learn all I can so I raise him up right :) Oh, and I think we might name him Edison....after Thomas Edison. My fiancee is an Electrical Engineer ;)
