Bernie is so cute! Archie started peeing out of excitement a few weeks ago. Hes now 17 weeks today.Weve been told he will grow out of it, not to punish him for doing it or make any deal (big or small) out of the peeing. The trainer told us to always have treats nearby. Like a bowl by the door, a bowl in the living room, etc. When someone comes to the door, make him sit and stay with a treat. Do not let anyone talk to him, pet him, or antyhing until he sits and is calm. Were starting to work on this, so I cant tell you if it acutally works! but it sounds like it should! good luck.....
I think Lindsay has it right on. The harder one is jumping on people in other contexts. It's one thing for me to not reward that behavior, but no matter what I do someone else always encourages it - whether at the dog park, on the street, family members, cleaning lady, etc. Even if they say they get it, they will always forget by the next time you see them.
This is my current struggle too. 50 percent of people seem to think it's cute when Oliver jumps on them and encourage it. This actually happened last night with my boyfriend's brother. People who don't have dogs don't understand everything that goes into training a puppy. It's impossible to train your dog who and when they can jump. My personal favorite is "Oliver can jump on me except when I'm wearing work clothes." I think Oliver is very intelligent but I don't think he has any idea what a suit looks like and I have no interest in training him.
LOL!!!!
Cute response... Our Doodles would definitely be smart if they could do this... What's next being our personal fashion consultants?
Or a sock broker.
Nice :)
Or when the dog jumps up and they take their front paws like they are dancing. Also a good one.
