I think he's a mini doodle!!

As many of you know, I have a 15 week old goldendoodle. His name is Luke and he's the love of my life! Anyway, the breeder said he'd be about 45-50lbs when he is fully grown. However, he is only 14.5 lbs! I'm hoping he'll stay small! The vet seemed to think Luke would max out at about 25-30lbs! I was kinda hoping for a mini doodle and that looks that what we got! ;)

Don't be too quick to think he's a mini.  My girls weighed 11 lbs at 11 weeks.  Lucy topped out at 50 lbs. and Ethel at 55.  I was actually worried they weren't going to be big at all.  I was wrong.

Oh wow! I'm hoping he stay on the small size! Either way, I'll still love him to pieces! ;)

Four months is 16 weeks, and that is the formula I know.  Double their weight at four months and then add 5 or 10 pounds.  Actually hind sight is probably better.  Look at the adult weight and go back to see what they weighted at 16 weeks.  Does it work out??

Daphne is a mini. She weighs 20 lbs now and weighed 15 lbs at 6 months. I don't remember what she weighed at 20 weeks but I do remember trying out that formula and thinking she would be 36 lbs. That never happened. I don't think that formula works on the mini's. Do you know how much his parents weighed?

Lori, I agree the formula doesn't work on minis. Tara was 14 lbs at 6 months and weighs 20 pounds now at 4 years.  According to the formula she should weigh 33-38 pounds.

I thought the formula was as follows: weight @ 2 months x4, 3 months x 3 and 4 months x 2. I have also heard weight x 2 at 16 weeks. It's so confusing! Luke's mom was a golden and weighed 38lbs and dad was a standards poodle weighting about 4lbs. My husband picked Luke out and said he was the second smallest!

Luke's mom(golden) was 38lbs and dad(poodle) 45lbs. Luke was the smallest one besides the runt. Luke was only 6lbs at 8 weeks when we first brought him home!

Emily, Tara weighs 20 pounds as and adult and was 10.5 pounds at 15 weeks. I think Luke could certainly be smaller than was predicted but it is really hard to tell with doodle genetics. They can fool ya! LOL.

Cubbie was 11lbs at 20 weeks.  He topped out at 25lbs.
