Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

So I am choosing my new puppy on Saturday morning.  I have to drive 3 hours up North for this, and I cannot wait to meet the puppies!  There are 4 males I get to choose from.  My breeder has not really told me much about them, and she has not posted any pictures for two weeks.  From the pictures she did post 2 weeks ago, when they were 3 weeks old, I have one I am leaning towards.  I just don't really know how this whole thing goes, and I am hoping I am able to make a good choice.  I just can't wait to see them, and finally meet my new little guy.  Anybody have any advice on this process?

I imagine it depends on where you're getting your puppy and what kind it is.  Multigenerational Australian Labradoodle or American Labradoodle?   I have noticed that most of the Australian Labradoodle breeders have puppies tested for personality and match them with potential new homes/owners and owners don't pick them out.  I think they can go see them prior to picking them up but don't go specifically to pick one out.

Just wanted to mention that I'm pretty sure (from my search) Multigenerational Australian  Labradoodles have less of a chance of shedding than American Labradoodles and also hypoallergenic.  Both are adorable.

Hi Katherine -- Just go and have fun and interact with all of the 4 and see if one grabs your attention.  We had already chosen ours before we picked her up based on photos, videos, and conversations with the breeder.  So, we didn't have the excitement of meeting them face to face and then choosing.  Oh, I'm sure it's hard to choose when you have 4 sweet puppies looking at you and running around and playing!  I'm sure you will make a good decision - just ask the breeder for some guidance if you are unsure.  Good luck!!

I have no advice since I am 2 weeks away from picking out mine too.  Just wanted to say that I am excited for you and maybe a little jealous.  I am hoping that when I meet the females that I get to choose from, there will be one that will stand out to me.  But really, goldendoodles and labradoodles are all such great dogs.  I really don't think you can go wrong.  Enjoy every minute of it and post pics please!! :)

I agree with everyone else.  Have fun and enjoy the moment...  I am so happy for you, and as Sara said, a wee bit jealous:)  I am waiting on pins and needles for an email from the breeder telling my that my pup is being born...the due date was yesterday--then another 9 week wait, ughhhhh.

Congrats to you.  Post pics.

You poor thing Adrienne.  It must feel like it has been the longest wait ever.  But, it will get here and then you won't be able to imagine not having your little pup.  He will be worth the wait!!!!  Please post pictures once you get them from the breeder.  I love looking at puppy pictures!

Aww, thanks for the advice!  I am so excited to meet him.  I got him a lobster toy that I have been sleeping with so I can leave it with him for him to remember my scent...I want him to have something familiar.  I am going to try and take tons of pictures and video, and I will be sure to post them!
