Charlie notices some of the very subtle sounds and knows exactly what that means!

Sound of poop bag unrolling ---- she hear this from another room and comes running! Time for walk!

Zipping up my briefcase -------------- I do my weekly paper work on Sunday night, and once I am done, I take it to the office to drop it off since its due every Monday morning. She hears this zzzzzz ! sound and knows its time for the car ride!

Chime sound the computer makes when I shut down --- Mom is done with the computer and is going to play with me!! She comes running with some sort of toy in her mouth!!

It never fails.. she could be comfortably sleeping on the couch, but when she hear these sounds, she knows!! How about your doodle?

Oh yeah, there is definitely hope.  My pup was trained with liking the grooming when I would get out the brush every time before we would go somewhere in the car and have Groucho get a little brush and then tell him it was his turn.  He connected a brush with a car ride and going somewhere and soon loved to see the brush come out.  Same thing with peeing on command.  My first doodle was great at that and I would always tell him to go pee before we got in the car.  Even if he only had a little squirt he would eliminate because he knew that was his ticket to a car ride.  All the dogs know this command, but he was the best at it.  Connect the grooming with something he loves and do a little at a time.

Charlie hates it too. If she sees me with a brush, comb, or a bottle of ear cleaner, she goes under the huge octagon shaped coffee table because she knows I can reach her!!

:-( Poor guy...

Heidi loves popcorn too oh and cheese!

Charlie will come running if she hears the crack of the ice cube tray. She loves to chew on ice cubes.

Sneezing sends her running - full red alert. She will jump on top of me ever time I sneeze. She insists on sniffing my face every time single time. It is as if she is checking to make sure I'm alright. Weird.

Bodi hears the sound the TV makes when I shut it off.  It is not the silence that he reacts to, but the tiny little click as it turns off!!  He grabs his toys and runs to the bedroom for bedtime!!

Monty Moose knows the sound of me changing out the toilet paper roll from the other end of the house!  No matter how quiet I try to be....he still hears it.  I have even made it a challenge for myself to see just how quiet I can do it.  Still can't outsmart him.  Other things he comes running for are ice cubes...getting the popcorn bag out of the pantry....treat jar lid....me quietly getting his leash off the leash rack.....and of course...opening the cheese drawer.  It really is amazing how a Doodle can hear and recognize sounds like these and NOT hear me (or pay attention) when I say NO to him!

Debi, soooo true!  Sometimes she looks at us like she can't even hear us and tilts her head like "what", but if we said the magic word "popcorn" or "open" the bag she is there with a big grin and "perfect" sit!

They are sooo smart and how can you resist!  "Selective hearing"  was invented for doodles!!!!

Love it and true!

I wasn't sure if I had the only one with selective hearing.  Glad to know I am not alone!  :)

Bella comes flying with any sound that is even remotely associated with food. Just one of us in the kitchen turning on the kitchen faucet somehow spells "food" to her. She has über sensitive hearing, I can whisper "Bella" from another room and she comes running.
Murphy is more mechanical sound aware. Cars, trucks, DH's motorcycle, kids on bikes, lawn mowers all send him running to the window, even if its a long way away and I have to really listen hard to hear it. Also, opening the cabinet where the ear solutions are, send him hiding like JD !
