Dory my goldendoodle is 17 months. She still acts like a puppy. I can see that she is slowly becoming
a calmer girl.

When to you think it advisable to add another doodle. I thought they can play more with each other
instead of me and Dory loves other dogs. At first she is a little on the shy side, but quickly warms up to play.

Riley was around that age when we added Boris to our family and it was great timing as he had enough manners to teach Boris and enough energy to play lots.

Can't help you with this one, we have an "only" child:(

I think the 'right' time to add another doodle is when YOU are ready, time wise and financially!! Both are equally as important. If you can't afford 2 pet insurance policies, twice the yearly vet visits, 2xs the food bill and if you don't have the time or patience to start training all over again then the time is not right. BUT if you do, then you will have twice the love and happy times!!

I have 4 living with me - only 2 are mine, the other 2 are my daughters who moved home. We love having our own pack - each so different but at the same time so much alike. 3 are 4 and 5 years old and Niña is 11 months old with typical puppy energy. She learned so much faster then the 1st because she has 3 to teach her.

We are lucky enough to have 4 times the love and laughter that they bring to us!

I think it would be fine to add another doodle at any time. Luca was about 14 month old when Calla came to us at 4 months.

Adrianne makes some very good points. Twice the expense in grooming, food and pet insurance. The one thing that will be cut down is training time as your first dood will help train the 2nd, and that includes house rules. And in our experience, at least, the 2nd has been much less of a 'trouble maker', with the first keeping him occupied. There's been no chewing or destroying of household items, no paws up on counters, no stealing of dish towels...lol.  (Oscar did have an intestinal obstruction after ingesting a neoprene tag silencer, but that boy will eat ANYTHING). As long as the first is well trained the 2nd should be a breeze to train. 2 are a whole lot of fun (we added Oscar when Lucy was 3 yrs old). They always have a play buddy, even when there are no other doodles at the dog park :) Potty training the 2nd was our biggest challenge (Lucy was trained in a couple weeks... Oscar, more like 5 months!). Now that we're well over that hurdle, life is good!
