Haley's "New" Car

Haley has never been good riding in the car. He loves to go but he likes to lunge at oncoming cars on two lane roads. I think the configuration of our family car is part of the problem. He has no place to be comfortable except standing with front feet on the hump and head almost in the front seat forced to stare ahead.
I have always thought a SUV would be more comfortable but we are not ready to purchase a new family vehicle. Last month on side of the highway DH and I spotted a bright red Jeep Cherokee for sale. We were curious and stopped looked it over and wrote down the telephone number. I kept thinking about that vehicle and finally on our way home I asked DH to call the number. He found out the year (1996) price (not much) and mileage. We met the owner to test drive the Jeep and bought it.
In the month we have had Haley's car Haley has become a pretty good passenger. I had never been able to train the lunging at cars out of him but now he only does it when we first start out for which he gets a verbal correction. Haley now gets to go places.

Yup....I "second" Camilla on this...it really does sound like an awesome car.  We taught Murph to always be in a "down/stay" in any car...can't lunge if you're in that position.  It has been a "life saver" and now he gets to travel with us with no drama.

That's great! I'm sure Haley is enjoying the rides as well. By the way, does he jump into the cargo area? I can't make Auggie do that.

Yes, Jarka, he does jump into the cargo area but first he goes around to a passenger door looking to get in and I tell him "back  here" and he comes around and jumps in.

Yay for Haley and this is great for you, too. I have an old blue van and it is my Doodle mobile. My dogs and I are in it every single day and it is nice to have our dogs with us. Glad you found Haley a car :)

Hooray for Haley! I love jeeps.  Our second car is a jeep but it is a wrangler and too small for multiple dogs unless you take the back seat out.  Bigger jeep - YES!
