Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hello all,
I've recently adopted a Labradoodle pup named Riley. She is a cute, cuddly, intelligent 18 pound, 6 days shy of 3 months old, ball of fluff and has become the perfect addition to our family.
I was told that her mother is a 50/50 Lab/Poodle and her father is a 50/50 Lab/Poodle mixed with a full Lab. (guess that makes dad 75/25?)
On to my question. I have been getting lots of comments on her markings/coloring being odd for a doodle, leading me to question the information I was given. She has a single coat and is (so far) non shedding. Everything I have read leads me to believe that doodles don't stray too far from the typical solid colors or certain patterns. I've scoured the internet and have been unable to find another doodle with her markings. Can anyone look at these photos and tell me if I was misinformed? It doesn't matter much, as long as she doesn't shed and keeps her sweet temperament around my kids.
Thank you!
Rhonda

Thank you all for the replies! I did some more research on Phantom and Parti and she does seem to fit somewhere in there.
Let me explain what I meant when I said it didn't matter what she was as long as she doesn't shed. I meant that I wouldn't be mad at the people I got her from for lying about her heritage, but if they lied about the shedding that would make me upset, with them. I have no intention of ever getting rid of her. She is not even 3 months old and we are her third home. Poor pup has been through enough.
If she started shedding later I wouldn't love her any less, but I may have to think twice about the suede furniture =p
Can I ask why she has been rehomed? She is so precious.
The people I purchased her from decided that having 4 dogs and 2 cats was too much for the 4 month pregnant wife. Riley was the last to join them, so she was the first to go (they had her less than a month).
I am guessing that her being a chewer had something to do with it =(
Rhonda....she is beautiful!
She is so pretty! I can't believe yours is her third home! I am glad she found you!
I agree. Third time is a Charm
She is very pretty. Just beautiful
She's beautiful. Third home? Unbelievable! Just be aware that it's impossible to predict coat type with 100% accuracy so there is a chance she could end up shedding. I hope not though!
Thank you all for the warm welcome!
I hope she isn't going to be a shedder, but will take whatever we get =)
I am trying to give her a daily brushing, but she is more interested in chewing on the brush...
Do you guys have any tips on keeping her cool in the hot summer months? The groomer at her vet's office won't see her until 3 months old, then only wants to trim the hair on her face and paws. It is so hot here in Georgia that Riley wants to come home 5 minutes into her walk, which is not enough time to burn all of that puppy energy. She then runs to my bathroom and lays on the cold tile floor for an hour.
Poor baby
I do keep Peri shorter during the summer (about 1" all summer long). I am in TN. She just hates the heat. If she is out for any length of time, she comes back in pooped and lies down on top of the airvent - on the hardwoods.
I would suggest training a lot indoors. Training helps them get their "mental energy" out and is so important right now.
She is adorable and I think a doodle to me!
She is adorable!
