My first night with Dougie was not bad...knock on wood! I do not know if it was the long car ride, but he slept through the night, from 10:30 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.--Whoo hoo!!!! Poor fella fell asleep on the central air vent, which seems to be his favorite place to snooze. I also found out that he doesn't like ANY of the "comfy" crate blankets/pillows that I purchased for his crates. I picked him up and put him in his crate--I camped out on the couch so that I could be close by if necessary. He whimpered for a second. I placed his "Snuggle Puppy" in with him and MAGIC...not another sound until 6 a.m. Needless to say, I do not see an expensive dog bed in Dougie's future. Ditto for the toys. I purchased a few new toys and his toy of preference is a "white hand towel".
No accidents in the house yet. However, I can not take credit for that. I failed to take Dougie out after his morning nap and when I turned around to look for him, he was standing in the un-used "make-shift" litter box taking a potty break. Pee on carpet averted, thanks to Dougie.
Something tells me that he will have more energy today so I plan to be ready. Here are a few more pics:
Dougie playing with my daughter
Moving his buddy to the vent...(evidence of my couch slumber still present--Sorry about that.)

Bob I am sure that she will get back to playing with her toys and running around the yard. She may associate those toys with something bad occurring. Maybe treat her to a few new toys to see if that motivates her to play. She has been through a lot so it may take a little more time for her to get her spunk back but she will. She is soooo lucky to have you and you her.
Oh yeah, thanks for the info on the pumpkin. Dougie's poops are now firming up. The vet said that it may have been the Heartworm chewable that made his stools loose. He is no longer waking up multiple times in the middle of the night to poo. I am too watch him over the next couple of days and bring him in if things don't get better.
Thanks Lucy, the pumpkin worked!! Dougie sends big hugs because he is feeling soooo much better :)
You are right about the baby gates for the stairs! They sometimes can get up but the getting down is the scary part! Dougie sounds like wonderful pup!
Sounds like things are going really well! The baby gate sounds like a good idea.
I love your pictures of Dougie!!! I too have found the baby gates to behelpful. In fact, 8 months later I am still using them! Keep the pictures coming.
How cute is that bundle of furry love?!?!??? Congrats and keep us posted!
Aw, congrats ... so cute. And I must admit I'm almost a little jealous. Also, snuggle puppies are the best. Of course Lola chew the stuffing out of hers pretty quickly - but it was great while it lasted.
Lola is like that too - she doesn't like a lot of blankets and such. Unless it's really cold in the room, she'd rather just be on a hard floor.
We gated off the hallway so Quincy could not get to the staircase-until he jumped clear over it! There was a repairman upstairs and I went to see how he was doing, next thing I knew Quincy was up there too. He did it again while I was on the other side- zip and over, not even a running leap.
So-if you buy gates, get the extra tall ones - which of course are all the more expensive. Wish you were closer, you could borrow ours!
Adrienne, Dougie is soooo cute and I love the pictures! We too used a gate for almost a year and it was a lifesaver, especially since we had a major chewer! Sounds like things are going pretty good! Congrats again:)
Adorable! And huge congrats :)
