I have read a lot of posts on DK and it seemed a lot of people were using Mane 'n Tail shampoo for their dogs so I bought it.  Now I may be crazy, but I have never asked how people shampoo their dogs, but I always shampooed my dogs like I shampoo my own hair - put it on, lather, leave for a couple minutes and rinse thoroughly.  When I read the instructions on Mane 'n Tail, it stated to dilute shampoo in a bucket with water and sponge on the dog, lather and leave for a few minutes and rinse thoroughly.  I figured it was worth a try and would definitely use less shampoo so I did it and Myla, who absolutely loves swimming and absolutely hates baths, loved her bath!  She just arched her back for more sponging - it seemed like she thought she was having a spa treatment!  Is this the way everyone bathes their dogs?  I haven't bought the conditioner yet, as I wanted to see how this worked and if Myla would get itchy from this shampoo but so far I really like it!  I am going to buy the conditioner next week before her next bath.  We are going camping right on the lake this week, so she will be swimming non stop so I'm sure that when we get home she will need a conditioner added to comb out her hair.  I just can't believe the difference in how Myla loved her bath!!!!

My guys are very bath tolerant. I don't sponge the shampoo on but I do dilute it in a plastic pitcher and pour it on then scrub it in. repeat. I am so glad Myla has learned to love being bathed! That is great!

I just bought the shampoo, conditioner and detangler. Haven't had a chance to use it but I did notice the directions. I think I will dilute the shampoo in a plastic bottle instead of sponging the doodles.

I didn't know they had a detangler!  I will have to look for it!

I bought it but hadn't tried it yet.  I couldn't find the detangler, though.  I might try amazon.  SO excited to hear that it works well.

I never thought about this either. I think I will dilute the shampoo and pour it over them. I think it will be a lot easier than lathering it in. Thanks for the info:)

That's probably how I will do it when it's a quick bath but I used a washcloth instead of a sponge and as I said, Myla loved the rubdown!  It was funny because usually she tries to hide as soon as she sees me lay towels on the bathroom floor - she won't even take a treat as I try to lead her to the shower stall!!! and when she's in the stall, she stands right against the wall and will not turn around at all - I have to force her to turn around to lather and rinse that side!

That's funny, how a different shampoo could make Myla enjoy her bath... or maybe it was the method of application she enjoyed? Many, many years ago I use to use Mane and Tail myself. It was a fad that was going around at the time. I just recently bought a bottle of Sally's generic version of Paul MItchell's The Detangler to use on the doods. I have yet to try it, but I have high hopes for it. I read about it being used on matted dogs on a dog groomer forum.

Cuz it is for horses!  I think that diluting it is a good idea.  What I have done is take a water pitcher and put some shampoo in, then fill with water, pour it on after the dog is thoroughly wet.

I bought the detangler but I didn't like it. It seemed to make Sophie's hair crunchy when she got wet. I may have used to much on her but haven't used it since. I love the shampoo even use it on the hedgehog but dilute it a lot more.

If you can't find the conditioner, shampoo or detangler try Tractor Supply or the feed stores. I also delete all of my shampoos & conditioners. I put them in empty shampoo bottles, travel bottles or you can get them from Sally Beauty Supply.
