50lb. Doodle in 60lb. Dog Suit

[Debb, Lucy & Oscar]

I've been meaning to post this for months, but never quite got around to it. My Lucy is a svelte poodle-looking Labradoodle with no appreciable excess skin. Her skin is what I'd describe as 'taut'. Oscar, on the other hand (also a Labrdoodle, but not anywhere near as svelte as Lucy) has handfuls of excess skin (which makes him very soft and cuddly!). We joke that he's a 50lb. dog in a 60lb. dog suit! LOL!
I'm curious about others' doodles. Does your dood have tight skin or loose skin?

Boca = suit fits tight.
Rosco = suit is too large, especially around the neck and chest...very labrador like.

I just hope Quincy never grows into his suit. :>) I actually asked this question a long time ago. I was starting to think there may be a Shar Pei in the mix.

Thanks, Donna! I'd not seen that discussion before, and I kind of felt like you, that it might be a stupid (or in my case, naive) question. Lucy and Oscar are our first dogs ever (Lucy 3 years before the addition of Oscar). I always thought it quite odd that his skin was so much more loose than Lucy's. I wondered if he might grow into his oversized suit, but it grows right along with him.

[Camilla and Darwin]

Darwin has loose skin for sure, on his back and neck. He also has the fluff added, people often think he's a huge dog - 90lbs or so but he's really only 63. :-)

[Diane, Baker & Oskar]

Baker, as a puppy, had tons of loose skin...consequently, he kept growing & growing to 99#.  

Oskar, on the other hand, is a tight skinned 33# bundle of energy :)

[Christine & Camus]

Camus' suit is too big, especially since having lost a little weight!  His gene pool is leans toward the lab.

[Judy, Meg & Polly Wolly Doodle]

Meg also has loose skin, I notice it most when she rolls on the carpet to scratch her back, handfuls push out the side...looks weird.  When she stands everything looks great and in place though.

[J and Riley (and Luna)]

Luna has a little extra on her neck, but that's about it.  Very retriever-ish.  

[Lonnie & Libby Lu]

Loose skin for Libby!  She looks much larger then she actually is and that's OK:)

[Karen and Bridget]

Bridget is thin with no excess skin at all.  Her fur is also very poodle-like.
