Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Our Bentley is a 10 month old chocolate labradoodle. He is starting to have what I call "grey hair" the ones I would get covered in the salon...lol
Would anyone know if this is the start of a color change for him? He also has one long strand of white hair on his tail.
I am part of the chocolate doodle forum but there hasn't been any action there for a while.

It's possible, many of the chocolate doodles here have "faded" to a lighter color. Maybe you should check out this group, members have posted the evolution of their dog's looks from pups to adult.

Thanks...I will check out this group! :)

My doodle started getting white hairs at just a few months old. I though she was going to turn 'lavender' I think that is what they call brown dogs when they turn gray. She is going to be 2 next week and I think it has just leveled out. Whatever way she ends up will be fine. I think it's interesting to see how they turn out.

She is so cute!!!  Her color is awesome!!

As a puppy, my Charlie was a very dark chocolate color.  He had a few of the white hairs too.  He is now 7 years old and is almost a cafe color.  It has been very interesting watching the transformation.  Somewhere along the way I remember something about if the chocolate doodle has a rose colored nose and/or light eyes (my Charlie's eyes are an amber color) that they will probably turn lighter over the years.  Not sure if there is truth to that but it seems to be the case for Charlie.  Your Bentley is adorable!

What a cutie Charlie is. My Charlie had blue eyes until she was about 3mo old. They have changed to a very pretty amber. She may end up looking like your Charlie.

Charlie is super cute!!!!

I have also noticed a few grayish colored strands in Dougie's coat.  And, although I absolutely love the darker coat, I think the cafe/lavendar colors are also beautiful.  Bentley is beautiful and will look great either way :)

Thanks everyone....I will love him either way but I love looking at pictures of all your dogs.  Its nice to see what he may end up looking like!

Of all the colors, I think the chocolates change the most and seeming to go on foorreeevvvveeerrr.  What fun to watch this happen. I think chocolate will be my next doodle color choice for this very reason.

Charlie is a sweetie!  My chocolate ALD, as a pup, was totally dark (except for his white goatee and tuxedo chest mark).  His back is now mixed with white - it started in a small spot and has gradually covered his whole back.  It's fun to see him evolve.

Trav changed from chocolate to a lighter, grayer color.  Maybe he would be called lavender now--he's 3 now and doesn't seem to have changed much in the last few months.
