I have been trying for a year to get the hair on my Bailey's ears to be long and sleek. The hair at the top of her ears never seems to grow longer. I keep trimming the bottom hoping to get that "one length look" but it is frustrating! I swear the hair on the middle and top of her ears never grows.... resulting in puffy looking ears. She has very soft curly hair on her ears and it almost floats in the air. Am I fighting a losing battle?

I wanted to add, too, that Oscar's ear leather is much longer than Lucy's (he can actually chew on his ears... fortunately he doesn't do it often because it turns them into a matted, gooey mess!). Although Lucy can grow her ear hair quite full and long (pre Oscar), her ear leather is quite short. I think maybe it must have something to do with poodle vs retriever traits. Lucy definitely is more poodley, while Oscar is more retriever like (both dogs technically are 3/4 poodle).
Bailey is technically 3/4 poodle as well. I just examined her ears and there is no way she could chew on the leather part...too short. Wow...Oscar's ear leather must really be long! I imagine it can be quite a mess when he chews on them! I guess there is something to be said about having short ears! LOL!
My Lucy is an F1 and her ear leather could probably make it into her mouth if she tried.
Awww thanks! Bailey and Daphne do look a lot alike!
She looks great!!
