Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hello all! sooo i have a goldendoodle 1 and a half years old. i noticed something about him.. and its always been this way.. before i got married my family had 3 dogs.. (standard poodle, toy poodle and lhasa apso) then i got married, moved out and we got our goldendoodle! then thing i notice is that if i so much as say my moms dogs names..or smile at them..or even look at them.. or say something is "doggy talk" voice lol their tails start wagging.. Midas on the other hand isnt as easily amused.. he wags his tail like crazy when i come home from work or the supermarket..like when he first sees me.. but if im walking around the house and i start talking to him "hi my babyyyy" he just stands there.no wags.. he comes over for tickles.. but no tail wagging.. he wags at other people on a walk and at other dogs.. nothing is really wrong with his tail..i was just joking in my title..but i find it weird..are some dogs more tail waggers then others? i am his favorite between me and my husband lol..he follows me all around the house.. has to know where i am at all times..but sometimes im like is he not amused by me.. does he not really love me like my moms dogs did? any ideas? thanks in advance xoxo

My Charlie is not a big tail wagger. Rarely does he wag his tail at home. Only when he gets to daycare (he loves to go there) or when he sees a doggie friend on a walk. Occasionally he will wag his tail when you play ball with him. That is it. I never get a tail wag just for talking to him. That is just his personality. So don't take offense to it, you are not alone!
lol..ok soo hes not depressed? i take him everywhere and my weekends are devoted to "whats fun to do that Midas can do this weekend?" lol.. i just noticed someone posted this a while back..and someone said to watch out for the circle tail waggers, i think he does that sometimes.. i wonder why we should watch for the circles?
My Lola is the exact same way. Tail is almost always up in a curled position but she reserves her wagging for very special occasions.
Haley is like Midas which might be a good thing since when Haley does wag his tail and hits you it hurts. The dog I had before Haley wagged his tail all of the time. If he didn't wag you knew he was sick.
LOL about the hurting part! the thing is midas ia ANYTHIN but laid back..lol he is always hyper lol.. but he has never been much a wagger so i guess he isnt sick..at least i hope
My 2 have completely different tail wag responses to stimuli. Oscar wags his tail a LOT because, I think, he wears his feelings on his sleeve. You're never left wondering what he's thinking at any given moment. Lucy is like your Midas, and will wag her tail upon first greeting us, but unless you're playing a game with her or having her do tricks, her tail doesn't do much wagging. Don't worry, Midas loves you plenty... its just his personality/temperament where he doesn't wear his feelings on his sleeve (so to speak!).
Just be glad it's really not broken. We have had some seriously sick dogs and very sad stories of broken tails this year and frankly, it is a great thing he has a tail. Waggy or not.
