The last two nights my 17 week old Bailey has slipped out of her harness. She goes outside to potty and when she is done she starts to go crazy. She starts bucking and pulling and before I can grab her she will have slipped right out. She walks great with her harness, she is actually a joy to walk, she doesn't pull or anything like that, but I'm so nervous that she is going to get spooked or something and take off. Does anyone have any suggestions on a collar that she can't get out of. When I walk her or take her out to potty now I look like a paranoid, crazy lady because I have her in a harness with a leash and her collar and another leash. I don't care that I look crazy as long as my puppy is safe. Any suggestions would be appreciated. UPDATE: I went to petco and purchased the halti harness. It has made a big difference! Thanks DK for all the suggestions, this group is so very helpful! !

What kind of harness? Enzo is 20 weeks and we have a EasyWalk....she's never gotten out of it..in fact, I am not sure if it is possible.
I got it at petco, it really isn't anything special. They suggested it. It clips at the back and then the leash clips onto the back as well. They said that would prevent her from getting out.
Enzo's is a medium...she is about 31 lbs right now . She has loads of room to grow further into it. It helps tremendously with her learning not to pull. The clip is at the front of the chest. Not sure if we will ever have to buy a larger size.

You can try a Martingale collar, they're designed to prevent a dog from slipping out of them. Another idea would be a slip lead.

Would I need to get another one as she grows?

Not a slip lead, but you usually do have to replace collars as they grow. Any type of collar.

I  agree. I am a big fan of Martingale collar.

If the pet store recommended the harness as one she couldn't get out of then I would also take it back when you go to get the different one.  That is of course if it is one that you cannot adjust.  I also like the martingale.  Particularly since you say the issue isn't when you are walking.  They make them so that there is a pretty big adjustment range so it should last you a while.  Of course all collars wear out or get dirty and grungy so I'd guess you would want a new one before he would out grow it anyway.

I got an Easy Walk for Picco and I can't imagine a dog slipping out. It was hard fitting him with a harness because of the body shape so the neck piece where the lead attaches is loose. It was the best fitting harness I could find. But for some unknown reason Picco doesn't like it. He shys away when I bring it out, maybe the loose piece bounces against him too much. He's fine when I bring out the regular neck collar.

The easy walk harness has a loop across the shoulders that tightens when the pup pulls as does a Martingale collar

--the Lupine company makes nice martingale collars that adjust a lot and will fit and last for a very long time--Amazon carries them.

If you don't want something around the neck, though, use the easy walk harness--And make sure it is adjusted tightly.

We have used EasyWalk since Quincy was a pup-really helps with loose leash walking, too.

Clancy is able to slip his collar so when we are outside in a public area, I ALWAYS keep him on a slip lead of some sort - martingale, corrective collar, leash/collar combo. The only time he ever tries to slip out of the collar is if he is frightened.
