It is a shock to get injured when you rarely have anything 'bad' happen. I hope you heal quickly. I can see your concern because little puppy jumps could open up your cut. I am excited for you to get Stew. Be sure to post pictures of him as soon as you can.
Glad to hear you are okay Jess...and I am so excited for you to get your new puppy...take it easy until then as you will be busy once the pup comes...but it is so worth it...take care!
Hi! Just read your post and was wondering what pet insurance you are going with. We just lost our cockapoo to an auto-immune disorder. We spent thousands of dollars on a bone marrow aspiration (to diagnose), transfusions, and weekly visits to the vet. To help us heal, we put a deposit on a mini goldendoodle, but want to investigate pet insurance this time.
Advice??
Enjoy your new Stew!! How exciting!! Can't wait to bring home our new doodle!

Thanks all! I've been keeping my leg up at work & will probably do the same thing tonight, just to speed up any healing. It looks like after tomorrow I can take the butterly closures off & just keep some gauze, neosporin & bandaids on it.
Arlene- I went with Pet Plan Bronze. I'm not thrilled that it has a per-incident deductible, but I know they have great customer service, they cover everything except well visits & vaccines, they were also the least expensive. I got a 5% discount for enrolling online, another 5% discount using a promo code and $33 off when I paid in full for the year. It was less than $170 total. Definitely well worth it to me- I've spent more in one shopping trip!
Just know that it is going to go up each year so be prepared.
Insurance is a great idea. Unfortunately, this idea came at your expense, but at least you didn't have a hospital visit. Better to realize that your dood needs insurance now, rather than after his first accident or illness. Just keep him away from the Exacto knives!
One lucky thing about pups is that they can be a little intimidated when they come into their new home and sleep quite a bit. I hope that happens for you so you can heal more. After a few days it is no holds barred! Sounds like you are well prepared. Happy days ahead.
Hello Jess. Welcome! I have been missing in action for awhile, but saw your post when I came on to post about my doodle's birthday! Sorry to hear about your accident. Hope you heal quickly. I have to say that you are very smart to get pet insurance. Pet Plan is an excellent choice! I speak from experience with them. They reimbursed us several thousand dollars when my Cooper was around 18 months old to diagnose and treat a liver illness. While they do not pay for his expensive diet, they do cover his medication after we pay his deductible each year. I am sure your puppy will be healthy, but it is always better to be safe than sorry.
As others have said, the premiums do go up with age, but they do with all the companies. They did when I had insurance with my previous pets with VPI as well. Cooper's just took a jump this year, by $35.00 per year. Small increase for what they have paid out. :-)
