So the Dh is questioning - how do you walk two of them when it is dark and you are holding an umbrella?

I am working on getting a brother or sister..or at least having our home rescue ready?   notice the questions I am forced to answer...ABOVE)

not unreasonable I might add.  He (DH) does add that it would have to be a rescue (he pays attention). i recently found out that we are not totally excluded from a rescue since we don't have a physical fence.  we have to inquire further since we do rely on our electric fence somewhat....whatever....WHEN WE RETIRE we will be home and will be rescue ready....

Any one else in this "holding pattern" ?

One thing that I've found easier is to have one on each side of me.  That way if I have to give a little correction to get them back to their heel position the other one doesn't feel it.  I found it almost impossible to correct effectively with both of them on the same side.  I'm right handed so I put Murph on my right (he's the most likely to need a "reminder" when he gets distracted) and Guinness on my left.  I've tried both ways and this seems to be the best for me....but I'm sure it is different for everyone.

That's absolutely correct, I agree with everything Joanne said. Build the foundation of walking a dog properly and leave them with separate leash/collar set-ups.

Thanks everyone-it will probably be awhile before we get to implement these great suggestions, but I love that the DH is thinking along these lines! (haha-no pun intended)

We have three but one of us takes two and the other takes one.  We all (two legs and four) needed training so the boys were good in a group and didn't treat it like a race to see who could be in first place.  We also uses the harnesses that fasten in the front which is a big help on pulling.  Once that's in place, it goes very smoothly.  Sometimes one of us will use a hands free leash for one and have the other on a regular leash.

When it rains, my husband prefers his water proof jacket and puts the hood up.  I prefer a rain poncho.   At night, rain or not, we all have a clip on safety light that blinks red.  We are quite the sight and we likely remind people of a traveling circus.  But we have a lot of fun.

How about this? :-}Just kidding!  This was taken when we and GBK were in Morro Bay and Gina and I were in the shops.  Pooooor DH.

Actually, I can walk our three but I hate it.  Ned and Clancy do not walk well side by side - both want the inside position.  But potty walking two  is not hard - but I wouldn't carry an umbrella, I would wear a hood or hat.

Hahaha!! How to you walk them...!?

Love this!  and they were also so good sitting there!

My first thought when reading the title to this thread is how do you walk two of them in the dark and rain, and you are holding an umbrella, AND YOU HAVE TO PICK UP THE POOP?

Hahaha!!!

I am paying attention to every detail of every answer here as I will be trying to figure this out myself now.  DH and I took them for a nice walk the other night, but we each had one and on our left heals.  Sometimes we let them walk ahead of us, but they walked side by side and very nice, rarely crossing over but to hook them both to my waste and then they see another dog, cat, squirrel, bird, leaf.......I guess I could sport a rubber suit :)

Oh, and Lori...congrats on the decision.  We are enjoying Buzz so much and Bay just loves him.  Quincy will be so happy :)
