One of our goldendoodles Bootes has really smelly ears. She's not open-faced like her sister Noodles so she's shaggier and has a lot more hair around her eyes and in her ears. I know we should have her groomed often to pluck the hair out but the poor thing hates it. Who wouldn't? We are trying an ear cleaner but that's traumatic for her too. Maybe it's just something she has to get used to - she's only 6 mos. old right now. Anyone else have experience with this problem?

Haven't been on this site in a while so just seeing these comments about Zymox. I'll ask our vet (we have an appointment tomorrow) but how does it work? Is it in pill form?

Zymox is liquid drops you apply to the ears. Have you been to the vet since you first posted this in Dec? what did the vet say it was from? Fungal, Bacterial or mites? Plucking of the ears is not pleasant, but pain and discomfort from chronic ear infections can sometimes be the consequence if you don't do just of a few minutes of unpleasantness. I just say sorry Murphy, I'd rather you get plucked now, than we end up with another infection. Helps me keep my resolve and keep plucking even when he tries to pull away.
