As luck would have it, we had to visit both stores today. And as usual, Enzo came with us.
First up , was Lowes. The first worker we saw, was a woman who loves Enzo and always greets her with a treat. My husbands idea was to put Enz in a cart.. She is still only 45 lbs and fits fine. We thought maybe, having her on a cart, they were less likely to ask us to leave.
We asked the worker about policy and she did say there were rumors about banning non service dogs. She said she had not been told directly and planned on " looking the other way" when she saw dogs she knew. We proceeded through the store with any number of employees stopping to pet Enzo. At one point...we thought, ok, here it comes...the Mgr. approached us. LOL....he just wanted to pet her! Never said a word!
Next up : Home Depot. There too, she was approached by numerous employees and shoppers. Her picture was taken twice that I know of....one by a dad taking a pic of his little girl hugging Enz in the cart. Saying he needed to show his wife so they could talk her into a dog. Our 10 minute run into the store , took us over an hour. DH miffed he missed part of the football game.
So thus far....shopping in the two stores, for the time being still ok...at least here in San Diego.

We went to Lowes today too! All 3 dogs in tow, when we checked out they gave each one of them a dog treat. They had a little bucket of treats, I gave them one of ours instead, but it was nice to know they even had little treats in store.

I'm glad you and Enzo can enjoy shopping together! Hopefully, more regions will catch on. I'm glad we've never run into shopping problems with our dogs in any of the  cities/states we've lived in. (Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Lexington, Philadelphia, & Anchorage.

How nice and good to know there are "some" Lowe's stores that welcome dogs!

There is a group all about Dog Friendly Places:

Thanks...I did not know this!

Thanks for posting this list.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing that!

Great list! I never knew that they can go to so many stores with us!!

I posted this in relation to a conversation going on in another thread.
There was an incident a few weeks ago , here in Ca., in Lowes, where a child was mauled by a dog. Word is Lowes will be banning non- service dogs. :(

That's awful for the child, but honestly, if the dog was out in public and the child that close, shouldn't the owner be at fault?

I guess what I mean is that if the dog was that unstable or the owner that stupid, it could have happened anywhere- park, sidewalk, front yard.

ooohhhh..... so sad for both a child and the dog.....

It is owner and the parent's fault.

I am very jealous that your Lowes still allows Enzo to come. I will have to try HD. It seems like such a wonderful socialization opportunity. Ragley loves meeting new people- she thinks she is the best thing since sliced bread and that everyone we pass wants to meet her

LOL...Enz is the same way!
There were at least 6 dogs in there today.
Like I said...we figured by putting her in a cart, they be less likely to ask us to leave.
We'll see how long this lasts :(
