OK, I am at my wits end.  Dougie is now 50+ lbs and will not jump into the back seat of my Honda Pilot.  He accidentally did it once so I know that it is possible, but, he will not even attempt to do it again.  I have tried treats, toys, having my kids jump in first, etc.  Nothing seems to work.  I have found that if I help him a little, he will clumsily crawl his way up into the seat.  And, if we are in a cement parking lot or area with a hard surface, I usually have to pick him up to get him out...  I have a strange feeling that I am being manipulated...Is there anything else that I can do?  Picking him up is quickly turning into a non-option.

Lol!

Same here, can't wait to see this.

LOL...ok...the pressure is on! LOL....it obviously didn't.t happen yesterday....life got in the way ;). Will give it the ole college try......

OK....so after NUMEROUS trys with some very scrumptious chicken, we failed miserably getting into the Jeep.  She couldn't have been less interested and stood ready for someone to lift her in.

The one thing that gets her mojo going is the word BALL.  I swear, she even knows how to spell it!

So....we tried, and tried, and tried, and tried........and in the end...we are one step closer.  She will at least jump up with her front feet.  Tomorrow is another day.  ;)

And no....she never "got it".

A valiant effort!  When Trav was much smaller I'd give him a bath in the kitchen sink.  He hated it!  By the third time I tried this, he knew why I was collecting towels and hid in the bathroom between the toilet and the wall.  Somehow he thought he was less visible or safer there than anywhere else.  Nothing would tempt him out--not treats, not toys, not anything!

It sounds like you've made a baby step, and that's great!  Good luck!!!

LOL...thanks!

Her doting Daddy, thinks she is still too "short" to make the leap.   I am not convinced ;)

LOL, she is so cute!

LOL. Thanks Karen. She'd be cuter getting herself IN the Jeep! ;)

I have a pick up truck, and Max used to climb in himself but now he will only climb in if I "help" him. He puts his front paws on the seat and then I have to push his butt up (I also am starting to notice he has a big butt lol) I never thought to use a treat to get him in but that might work, he loves his treats.

I think you need to buy a new vehicle  :)

Spud has to sit and wait, then released to zoom to the van.  He will however go slower to a vehicle that has a lower ceiling.

The van offers a lot more head room.  He just might think he will slam his head.  Can you put a seat down on one side to offer more clearance?

Unfortunately, when I lower my seats (making them flat) it decreases the clearance because the floors do not sink into the floor board.  However, Dougie does not even attempt to jump.  He just puts his paws on the seat and waits for me to lift him into the car or pick him up.

I now park my car as far to one side as the other so DH can fully open the back door-then he jumps in.
