Hey Guys,
I've been staying very busy with our new baby (now 4 months old!!) and Brinkley so I haven't been on here much. Yesterday evening Brinkley was jumping into my SUV when he tripped. My mom didn't realize that she was standing on his leash so when he jumped forward he didn't go anywhere and did a faceplant onto the backseat. I discovered that he also must have hit his front paw and nails on the side panel. I noticed this after I saw him licking his outer toenail on his right foot. Part of his nail chipped and broke (it's still attached though) and it broke off below the quick. It's not really far down but enough to make it sore. Is there anything I need to do for him until it heals?
In other news, Brinkley has done so well with Baby Alex. He comes running to me when Alex cries almost has if he's telling me that Alex needs me. He sleeps at my feet everytime it's time for Alex to eat. He just wants to be close all the time. He's even seemed to get calmer in the past months.
Here's a few pcitures (and I'll add my disclaimer that we have never forced Alex upon Brinkley. We never place the baby on or near Brinkley. We let Brinkley come to us when he wants to. We never want to give Brinkley a reason to feel unsure or threatened... so these pictures all happened when Brinkley decided he wanted to come hang out.)

Those pictures are so adorable, it looks like Brinkley is totally loving and protecting his baby brother, that is so awesome! I don't know much about the nail, but I love the pics, they made me smile. :)
Best friends for life for sure...what sweet pictures and so nice to hear what an amazing big brother Brinkley is to baby Alex(who by the way is just adorable!). Hopefully the nail will heal on it's own...just be sure to keep an eye on it:)
Be still my heart, how cute are they together? Thank you for sharing.
A-dorable pics! Glad to hear all is well :)
Re: the nail, Gavin broke his off a couple of months ago. It was broken half way up the quick and half still attached. I soaked his foot 3x a day in a bucket of epsom salts and warm water. It gradually detached leaving the exposed quick, but I kept soaking it to keep it clean and help it to heel. It sort of toughened up and shrunk back a bit and all was back to normal fairly quickly.
Thanks! I'll try that.
What a cutie pair! Just lovely !
It just happened last night. He obviously doesn't want me touching it but he let me look at it this evening without a problem. He's stopped trying to lick it (he's really good when i tell him to leave it). No limping either and he just ran around in the newly fallen snow a couple minutes ago.
Two beautiful babies you have! Good to hear all is going so well!! I hope the nail heals quickly.
Precious. I am sorry about Brinkley's toe nail. I would try BG's remedy and keep an eye on it.
Jake recently did the same thing chasing a squirrel but it split up right to the quick. It is very painful for them so we made a trip to the vet to have them trim it. I also soaked his paw in epson salts and they gave me a painkiller for him.
I adore thebeautiful pictures especially with Brinkly sleeping right by his baby. He just wants to remind you that he was your first :^)
Your boys are adorable! Sounds like you've done a great job letting Brinkley choose how much space he needs with the baby.
