Itchy doodle - grooming advice

OK - this sounds so obvious, but . . . when Bodi gets groomed he is very itchy.  I had the groomer switch to oatmeal shampoo - still itchy!!  After 5 years (I feel so dumb) I decided to hand Bodi's normal shampoo (Burt's Bee's for Dogs ) to the groomer.  She was happy to use his regular shampoo.  And . . . .WAHOO - no itching!!

Just thought I would share - in case anyone else is too dumb too busy to figure this out themselves!

Here is the "shampoo" I make. It doesn't lather up that well, but it does get Max clean and I love the smell, and the fact that it's natural, and he doesn't itch from it, which he did from the several kinds of shampoos that I tried even one that said non itching. 

Strawberry Cream Shampoo for Dogs
1 1/2 cup organic raw honey
1 cup organic apple cider
1 cup organic coconut milk
1 cup organic strawberries
2 tbs baking soda
1 raw organic egg

Of course you don't have to use organic, that's just how I found the recipe, I can't even get all those things organic, and some are just too expensive, so I just use regular, but I love using this. Once you make up a batch you can keep it in the fridge, I just made half a batch last time, but I used a whole egg still. I whipped it up in my food processor and used the whole thing. Originally I found the recipe on a youtube video but I can't find that now.

Lexi would lick this off her fur before I could wash it off. We've had pretty good luck with Pop's anti-itch shampoo, too. Our vet recommended we try it, and it seems to soothe generalized itching, too.

Julie ~  which Burt's Bees shampoo do you use.  Amazon has 9 different varieties of Burt's Bees dog shampoo?  Do you also use their conditioner?

We use the "itch soothing shampoo".  I have not used the conditioner.

JD's dermatologist recommended Douxo Calm, and it's worked well for us. Others here on DK have had success with it, too.

But keep in mind that Doris started out by saying that Bodi was itchy when he was groomed, not all the time. If the itching mainly happens when a dog is groomed, it makes sense that it might have something to do with the shampoo or grooming products. 

For a dog who has general itchiness all the time, changing shampoos may not be the answer.
