We're on day three of having Farley home with us - he's 7 weeks 3 days. He's doing great on potty outside - only 1 mistake today. We give him a lick of liver sausage from a baggie with the end cut off as his reward every time - along with praise and affection. When should we taper that off (and how?)
He doesn't take any other treats (or can't - he tries but spits out he doesn't have all his baby teeth yet) and he even gets his kibble softened with water.
I don't want to go backwards by taking it away!

I am with Leslie, about three weeks, until Max was really solid with going outside.
I never treated with Ragley. Not intentionally, I just was never great about remember to grab a treat as we rang bells and went out the door...she is happy enough to receive praise and love and snuggles though so that was her version of being treated. She's been home for almost 12 weeks and I still praise her vigorously for going outside
I only treated Darwin a handful of times in the first week or so. Ususally it was lots of praise and that worked for us. He's 10 months old now and I still tell him he's a good boy for going outside even though he never has accidents in the house. Just a habit to praise him, and he really is a good boy!
