thanks so much guys ... Thank God most of these places deliver because the stores in my town don't carry these brands ! My Vet Recommended Science diet , however I don't see it anywhere on the list and so far no one has posted that they feed that ...makes me wonder why ~

Do a search in the food group, you'll see lots about science diet. Blech!

Science Diet is one of the worst dogs foods available. It is such a shame that Hills is such a large sponsor of Vet programs and indoctrinating them from the beginning.

Our puppy, Truffle, was on a raw food diet when we brought him home from the breeder.  We first put him on Merrick puppy food, which didn't agree with him, even though he liked it.  Had I found this forum before I transitioned him from raw to kibble, I would have proceeded differently.  It didn't occur to me at the time that, having been fed raw, he'd probably do better with a grain-free kibble. Once I read all of the great information on this Web site, I decided to make the switch to Orijen puppy, which has been great.  He adores it and the transition was very easy.

I also give Truffle grain free treats.  When I need to put him in his crate during the day, I give him a marrow bone stuffed w/ a few little frozen treats and pumpkin. He loves it, and he gets some extra fiber that way (along with the probiotic chew we give to him daily as well).

Why did you switch him from raw? Just curious.

I did it briefly when we first brought Truffle home, but I found it to be expensive, impractical (we travel a fair amount) and frankly, pretty gross.  Also, I would have been the only one to feed him - my husband didn't like the idea of feeding raw and my girls would not have wanted to handle the meat (and I'm not sure I would have been too keen on them handling it).  Unlike us, our breeder lives in a rural area with access to inexpensive and large quantities and varieties of raw meat (it's a big hunting region).

I still supplement his kibble from time to time with some raw treats, but he loves his Orijen food and we haven't looked back since making the switch.

I'm glad the raw diet is working for your dog, though!

Gabby is 6 months old and has been on Fromm's Puppy Gold (Pink Package) ever since she was weaned from nursing. She is certainly healthy and has a great coat and plenty of energy.  I order mine on Chewy.com, which is a couple $$ cheaper than store price, and they ship it for free if >  greater than $50 purchase. Saves me a trip!  Hope this is helpful :)

I just switched Zoe (8 months) to Adult Orijen from puppy formula Merrick.  She likes it.  There's a terrific group on this site called the Food Group that has a mountain of information about recommended brands.  Highly recommend a perusal ;-)

I feed Georgia Origen puppy, but she doesn't like it that much.

My boss feeds her dog Blue Chicken (adult formula). She will leave the bowl out for her dog at the office. And if I don't catch her in time Georgia will eat the whole bowl of Blue and leave her food sit. I wonder if I should switch.

The breeder fed Nimbus Dick Van Patten's L.I.D. but I switched him to Orijen Puppy, mostly because I wanted non GMO food. I recently switched him to the adult Orijen, where there are also different flavors that can be switched around.

He likes it fine.
Sometimes he has days where it takes him forever to eat, but eventually he will. I agree that they shouldn't be spoiled when they don't eat. It's better for them to keep them on the same food, and you are letting the dog control you if you give in.

His coat looks great, and he doesn't scratch himself.

He is 6 1/2 months old.

We feed our dogs raw. Their coats, teeth, overall body composition have all benefited drastically. We are so pleased with the results.

I firmly believe that raw is the best way to feed a dog, although I understand most peoples reservations and fear about it as well.  We have a 12 year old boxer who is still kicking along like a puppy with crazy energy and perfect bloodwork, and our dogs have the cleanest teeth east of the mississippi.  We get our meat from ethnic (asian, mexican) supermarkets, where we can get it for usually less than $1 per pound.  The dogs love the variety, and I love knowing EXACTLY what's in my dogs food. Are you a member of the "Raw fed doodles" group?
