We had them. I did not care for them, they were difficult to work with.

We thankfully, only had to submit a few claims but those that we did submit they lost one of them after 3 submissions and took over 5 months for reimbursement. We cancelled our plans, they were more work than worth.

VPI is not the only one that offers wellness coverage.   According to this list a few do: http://www.consumersadvocate.org/pet-insurance/best-pet-insurance.h...{adposition}

Although I think the coverage is varied

Thank you so much Sally. I am thinking getting embrace pet insurance.

We VPI insurance for Max when he was a puppy he was fond of eating socks and we thought it would be a good idea. We have since changed to just coverage for accidents or injury. Last summer he got very ill and had to spend the day on IV and was given some prescriptions the bill was over $900 and we got $750 back from VPI. They are prompt with payment and very nice to deal with. Highly recommend them.

How much does typical Dog Pet Insurance cost.  I have been thinking about getting some for Archie...didn't realize this was such a thing LOL.

So now that I see some people actually take out Pet Insurance..how much is it?

Thanks!

I was thinking to get Embrace pet insurance. I want to cover also wellness and spay. Pet plan don't cover everything

Do lots of people get pet insurance? How much does it cost?

Sam, Rates for insurance vary from where you live, so I suggest visiting the sites and getting a quote.  It's a good idea to study the coverages you may want.    I never had insurance on my pets previously,  but I do now. I don't have wellness coverage, as I think the budget  can handle such in the basic pet costs.   I finally determined that the small fee each month was worth a great big avoidance of major surprise expense (which I have had happen before).

There are comparison charts: http://petinsurancereview.com/   and many links via posts here on the forum about pet insurance.   Any research that you do on the subject is worth the time.

Sam, Insurance is one of the most recommended needs for a pet owner next to being educated about good quality foods to feed your dog. You can search our site for MANY discussions on insurance, the pros and cons and even many personal experiences with different types. Cost vary as Sally mentioned but you can expect about 25-40 $ per month as an average, depending on where you live and type of dog and dogs age. I have Pet Plan, have 2 dogs 5 and 3 yrs old and pay $137.00 every quarter. Just to give you a rough idea. Again, there is a lot of info on this site and probably every question you might have will have been answered already.
I have Pet Plan and I chose that I did not care about wellness coverage for when I was getting pet insurance because as a dog owner I expected those type of costs. I have also heard from people it is not really worth it because it only evens out. I have the Gold Plan for Cally and I have a 90% coverage and it cost me 245 for the year, I pay up front because it is cheaper. Cally is almost six months. If you got to I think it is petinsurancereview.com you can fill in a bunch of info and get quotes from all the different companies. You can also look at the reviews for each of those companies.
Thank you everyone. I am not sure if I am getting pet insurance. I don't know it's worth it.
