So our breeder had our puppy on this and I bought a big 15 lb bag of this food - but my puppy doesn't eat much at all. He's randomly thrown up a few times he's eaten a lot at once.

I know now that this food isn't good quality, but was hoping to finish it off and not throw out since it was expensive and we're a young family on a budget.

Lately, he hardly eats it at all. I have been giving lots of treats (all approved) for training, rewards for gentleness with baby, etc. Plus we give him chicken jerky or Nylabone Nubs sometimes to keep him occupied while we're doing other things. The result is that he turns his nose up at the food and then sort of whines/barks until I give him something else - I've mixed hamburger and liver sausage in with his food too.

Am I creating a monster? Would this problem be resolved with a better quality food? Should I limit treats per day so he's hungrier? TIA for your advice!

Thinking of Orijen puppy.

Alissa, you might get some better answers if you post this in the food group!
My breeder had my pup on purina pro plan and the plan was to switch to Life's Abundance. When I brought him home he wasn't eating at all, at most 1 cup every 2 days. I recently switched him to the Orijen puppy and he eats it with no problem, and his BM's are completely normal. He eats the food, and everything seems to be moving much better. I was giving him a lot of treats to attempt to supplement but I stopped that and give fewer treats and he eats more kibble now. I also train more with kibble as well.
