Well, I got accepted into my Early Childhood Education Cohort program that I applied for a couple of months ago, one step closer to getting my dream job in Child Life! Being accepted into the program means, Cally and I are moving (an added bonus is that my cousin goes to this school, so we will be living together!)! I signed my lease two weeks ago and we are all set on our place to live and being ready for that but I need to find a vet! I have just been using the vet my whole family takes their animals, so I never really looked into this before.

What are some things I should look for in a new vet? If you could have certain things in a Vet, what would be things you look for.  Do you know of sites that I could search for a vet, based on certain criteria? Is it necessary to only look at AAHA accredited offices?

Thanks in advance!

I am partial to OSU grads, being one myself (not from the vet school!).  University of PA also has a great vet school, and Florida, as well.  Most vet schools are very difficult to get into, so I don't think you can go wrong - there aren't that many programs in the U.S., and most of them are good.

Congratulations Brittney, Where are you moving to? .Try a vet school in the area, they may have a list.

Thank you so much! I am moving to downtown Cincinnati. So not far from where I live now but I want to have a vet close in case of emergencies!

Perhaps you can look up DK members who live there or ask in a local group if there is one.

Dito the personal recommendation suggestions. Honestly yelp, although I've used it, isn't all what you may think it is. They give preference to business that pay them. And do not always show all the reviews. One reason I chose my vet is because she's holistic, and would not be pushing me to use Hill's products.

I will be asking my friends but I will have to be triple checking their info! I know for a fact none of my friends use a holistic vet but I am definitely interested in one, or at least one I can consult on things with. I have never used Yelp, so thanks for the heads up!

I have nothing to add to the great suggestions here, but wanted to say congratulations!

Thank you! I am very excited!

Congratulations!  It's very exciting to be one step closer to your dream job!  Instead of Yelp, you might try Angie's List.  Although I don't have personal experience with Yelp, I have heard recently that the reviews aren't 100% honest/accurate.  Not criticizing them or anyone who uses the reviews but I have heard better things about Angie's List.  But honestly, I would ask your vet and people that you know for recommendations over using either service for finding a new vet!  Good luck with everything!

Thank you! I cannot wait to start the next chapter of my life! I do not have experience with Yelp either. I will definitely try Angie's list as well. I will ask my vet and some of my friends. I just wish I had some competent pet owners as friends! I guess we cannot all be like us here on DK!

Where are you going to be living?  The city, I mean, not the actual address - LOL.  Maybe some of us have friends in the area who have vets!  I know a great vet in Cleveland!

OK - well, I do have some friends in Cincinnati and I will ask them.
