I've always just used my tried and true pockets but I need something easier for agility class.  I want to order something online but need to make sure that it opens/closes easily and is not a smorgasbord for Penny.

Any recommendations?

This is the one I have and I think it is fabulous! It has pockets
So you can put your keys and a little cash if you are at the park. It has a clip and belt option! It has held up great and I use it daily and have done so for the last 4-5 months! http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00BYFAROO/ref=mp_s_a_1_12?qid=139491...

I was looking at that one on the CleanRun website.  Thanks for the recommendation.

Once the weather is nicer, I won't be wearing a jacket with pockets everywhere.  And I get so darn hot running around at agility class.

This on is great and holds a lot of treats! It's wonderful! I know what you mean about the pockets!

We use this one:  http://store.clickertraining.com/terry-ryan-treat-pouch.html  (We recently changed from another one that was harder to get our hand in and out of and had a draw string to close.

What we like about it is it is wide enough to get your hand in and out easily and it has a hinge that allows you to keep the bag open when you want it open yet shuts tightly easily.  I'm not explaining this well.  Here is the blurb from the website:

This well-made and affordable treat pouch designed by renowned trainer Terry Ryan is now being manufactured under the Karen Pryor Clicker Training name.

The Terry Ryan Treat Pouch features a super-strong hinge that stays open for easy access to food or toys. In addition to creating quick and easy access to treats, the pouch closes easily with a touch and stays closed, keeping dog noses out! The pouch's storage pocket is large enough to fit your entire hand.

The treat pouch belt is adjustable and detachable, providing the option of simply clipping the pouch to your belt or pocket. A key ring keeps your clicker, whistle, or keys handy. The Terry Ryan Treat pouch has a water-resistant lining for easy cleaning and is machine washable. Pouch measures approximately 6.5 inches x 8.5 inches. Opening measures 3 inches x 6 inches.

Includes a Training Tips booklet by Terry Ryan.

Product features:

  • Super-strong hinge stays open and closes with a touch
  • Belt clip or adjustable belt
  • Additional pocket in front
  • Key ring to attach keys, clicker, or whistle
  • Machine washable

I hadn't seen this one before but it looks pretty big.  I also looked at some reviews and people mentioned that the hinge was difficult and made a snapping noise.  Do you have any issues with it?

We've only had the bag for a few weeks so I'm not sure how the hinge is going to hold up.  I read the reviews as well but supposedly the hinge issue was addressed in the latest version.  We thought it worth taking the chance since (especially for my husband) it was hard to get the hand in and out of our other treat bag.  Plus we couldn't see inside and didn't know when we were out of treats until we were out of treats.  Neither of us are large people but it seemed like we weren't as fast getting the treats out with the old one.

I didn't notice it making too loud of a noise when closing (it does snap closed though).  Bosco is a sound  reactive dog and the sound doesn't bother him.  It is nice to close it when you are bending over to do something...the food doesn't fall out.  :)

Thanks!  I do end up carrying a lot of treats on walks with three dogs.  :)

I don't know about the different treat bags out there, but when Ned was a puppy, my daughter took him to the park where a man was training his dog.  The man had a treat bag around his waist which Ned snuck treats out of when he bent down to talk to his dog! The man never knew his pocket was picked!  My daughter grabbed Ned and left!  I don't know if this happens easily or often, but our doodles are very smart.

This is the one I use for walks.  I like it because it has a place for the "pick up bags" and hand wipes....and even a tennis ball.

Thanks, Jane.  I use a similar fanny pack for walking but am looking for something with easy treat access for training.
