I think he looks great. But I trim my dog like this too, in the summertime. Check my page for photos. I've seen doodles with trimmed heads and they just don't look like doodles anymore.
You have a right thought. The leg hair should be longer than the body on most breeds. When I went to grooming school we were taught to use one length longer on the legs than the body. So if we used a 5 on the body, we used a 4 on the legs. That was for any breed.
For a really short cut, for me, I use a 3 3/4 on the body and a 3/4 ht on the legs.
Most of the time I use a 3/4 ht on the body and scissor the legs. When you scissor the legs, you can make more of a straight looking leg which is a proper doodle look. You aren't bound by the shape of the leg.
I have one girl who is so stocky and loves the mud so much she gets a whole body 3/4 ht shave and it looks quite good on her.
I think he looks adorable. I really like his cut.
I love it!
I think he looks great. I tend to have the length of hair on the ears the same as the top of the head to avoid fluffy ears but his head is pretty short, so I wouldn't go there right now. I would think about shortening the face a bit and the length of hair on the ears in 2 or 3 wks when his head has grown in a bit.
Looks like they left his tail quite long as well. Just think about balance. If the body is short, the head and tail need to balance with the rest of the hair cut.
Overall I think you got a great cut on a great doodle and I think you should leave if for now. :)
